Michael Long for Elle Fanning

We are particularly inspired by Elle Fanning's headband braid at the Hollywood Film Awards gala in Beverly Hills late last year. Not only is the updo the perfect finish to her sweet and youthful red carpet look, but it's actually quite easy to replicate too! When creating the braid, which took just ten minutes to perfect, hairstylist Michael Long chose to forgo any products, using only the natural texture of Fanning's hair. Starting with an unkempt side part, Long braided down each side and secured them at the ends. To achieve the headband look, Long wrapped each braid around the front and secured them with hairpins.

Ashley Streicher for Jaime King

We love the regal look of the halo braids Jaime King wore to the Art Of Elysium gala earlier this year and were thrilled that hairstylist Ashley Streicher shared all the how-to details with us! Streicher started by roughing up King's one-length bob by spraying it with Oribe's Dry Texturizing Spray ($19.50). Next, she parted her hair down the center and started an inside-out braid (so that the braid sits on top, rather than underneath) on each side, starting at the nape on both sides. The two braids were French braided following King's hairline until the top of her head where they are connected. Since King wanted a messy Valentino-style braided look, Streicher finished the look by pulling the braids apart a bit.

Colleen Conway for Mandy Moore

Snapped earlier this year at a charity event in Los Angeles, Mandy Moore looked sweetly sophisticated with her version of headband braids. Created by hairstylist Colleen Conway, the braids are perhaps the most at-home friendly iteration of the look. Conway simply gave Moore a smooth blowout with Oribe's Royal Blow Out Heat Styling Spray ($48), then parted her hair in the middle and braided it down each side, starting just behind her ear. After securing the ends with hairbands, Conway entwined the braids on the top of Moore's head, pinned them in place, and used a little Label.m Hairspray ($17) to finish the look.

Guido for Valentino S/S 12

To get this softly romantic look, Guido first prepped the models' hair by washing it with Redken's All Soft Shampoo ($15) and All Soft Conditioner ($15). He then applied Redken All Soft Argan-6 Oil ($29) to their hair to give it shine and then blew it dry. Once prepped, he created the braids by taking a circular section of the hair at the crown, then divided it into three sections and started a French braid in the middle of the hair. He continued the braid just under the right ear, going all the way counter clockwise around the hairline, pinning hair along the way to keep everything in place. Since the look is soft and easy, he pulled out a few wisps of hair to give the braids a more relaxed, effortless vibe.

Alain Pinchon for Scarlett Johansson

Earlier this month, Scarlett Johansson arrived at an Avengers premiere in London with a fabulous iteration of halo braids, created by Alain Pinchon. First Pinchon created a good foundation by prepping her hair with Shu Uemura's Ample Angora Volumizing Light Foam ($38) before blow-drying to create volume and thickness. Pinchon gave Johansson an inside-out braid, starting it behind her right ear, going across her head, and finishing it at the nape of her neck on her left side. He finished her hair with a little spritz of Shu Uemura Art of Hair's Sheer Lacquer Finishing Spray ($38) for hold.

Mara Roszak for Zoe Saldana

One of the first girls to give halo braids a go, we adored Saldana's crowning plaits the second we saw them. To get the look, hairstylist Mara Roszak says to start by applying Bumble and bumble's Surf Spray ($24) to damp, towel-dried hair and then rough dry. Let the hair naturally part, then take two sections and loosely braid then. Secure the ends with small elastics. Gently pull the braids apart for a looser messier look. Then take the ends of the braids and crisscross them on top of the head, a few inches back from the hairline, and pin in place with bobby pins. Crisscross the pins as they go in for extra security.
