Sometimes the best part of your favorite show is the end (you know, the few glimpses you get from next week's scenes?). Keeping this spirit in mind, we thought we'd dip into some of the upcoming fall trends for your viewing pleasure.
Ethnic Scarves (1. Balenciaga)
While the debate over celebs/fashion/hipsters appropriating kaffiyeh-inspired scarves carries on, it's interesting to note that variations are still turning up everywhere from Balenciaga to Topshop.
Colorful Accents (2. Fendi 3. Marni 4. Prada)
While it's not quite color-blocking per se, we noticed bright accessories all over the fall runways. Look for pieces that pair neutrals with contrasting hits of color, like these Marni platforms.
Knee Length Skirts (5. Chanel 6. Miu Miu 7. Ralph Lauren)
While our extremist readers (and by that we mean lovers of minis or maxis) might groan, we're happy to see the perennially practical knee length skirt getting some love from designers like Miuccia Prada, who showed the length at both Prada and Miu Miu.
Fuzz and Feathers (8. Nina Ricci 9. Fendi 10. Prada)
Put away your antlers kids, and get ready to nest. Handbags and headwear are nesting this season by the looks of the fuzz and feather detailing. Deer everywhere rejoice as they were feeling played out.
Cat Eyes (11. Louis Vuitton 12. Prada)
In a few months it's all about Currently Channeling: Liz Taylor/Cleopatra. Apparently Amy Winehouse is an eye makeup savant, as the fall runways showed loads of old school cat eyeliner. We suggest you start practicing now since technique (and steady hands) is required for this beauty look.
Oversized Outerwear (13. Karen Walker 14. Marni 15. Stella McCartney)
Coats get a dose of volume in the upcoming season, so move your boy-fit blazers to the back of your closet.
Lace Ups (16. Burberry Prorsum 17. Hogan 18. Proenza Schouler)
This fall your shoes will answer the age old question of what would happen if your heels and your fellow's dress shoes mated. The answer is the sexed up, lace up-as seen at Burberry and Proenza.
Interlocking Belts (19. Louis Vuitton 20. Fendi 21. Gucci)
Start looking now, for you will need belts galore by the time September rolls around. While there are many, many, many (did we say many?) variations of this trend, we like the neatness of the interlocking belt best.
Soft Curls (22. Gucci 23. Valentino)
Large, lush, rich-looking curls will be the style of choice for fashionable heads. The deep side part says "Veronica Lake," the fullness of the bouncing waves says "Jerry Hall," and the overall effect says "Hot Damn!"
