Shakuhachi
When thinking about Australia, most people immediately conjure up a few specific associations, like koalas and kangaroos or the phrase "G'day." But for your Who What Wear editors, these silly stereotypes are barely on our radar; how could they be when the country is simply loaded with first-rate designers? As longtime supporters of many Aussie brandsÂ--like Zimmermann, Camilla & Marc, and SomethingÂ--we've always known that the world's smallest continent is a big power player in the fashion world. As further proof of the terrific talent Down Under, today we're delighted to shine the spotlight on our latest obsession, cult favorite clothing line Shakuhachi!

The brand, which shares a name with traditional Japanese bamboo flutes, is the brainchild of designer Jessie White, a native Australian who was inspired to create Shakuhachi after spending several years traveling the world. Her idea was simple: she wanted to create clothes that reflected her gypsy lifestyle. Despite a lack of formal training, White initially launched Shakuhachi with just three t-shirt styles, which proved to be so popular she quickly expanded the scope of her designs. These days the line offers a full-blown range of fresh and functional pieces, including everything from body-con dresses to leather goods to tailored jackets, and, of course, t-shirts too. While the entire collection is cool, we managed to narrow it down to a few of our favorite pieces for today's Line We Love, so have fun perusing our picks and let us know what you think!

Black Lace Mini Dress ($305, 310.659.0058)
If there is one daring piece you must try this season, it's Shakuhachi's chic Black Lace Mini Dress. Thanks to the intricate floral-lace fabric, this peek-a-boo sheath is definitely edgy, but the long sleeves and high neckline temper the scandalous sheerness. The risk-takers out there should style it with a bandeau top and boy shorts, otherwise we suggest throwing it on over a noir or nude slip! Either way, the results will be decidedly sexy!

Black Leather Pocket Shorts ($424)
While a little leather skirt is certainly a wardrobe essential, there's something so cool about a pair of shorts instead. This pocket-embellished style is certainly chic, and would make for an amazing nighttime look when styled with a silky button-up and your favorite ankle booties.

Red Animal Knotted Insert One Shoulder Dress ($424, 971.344.8624)
When your friends call for a girls' night out, answer them with this bold, body-con mini dress. The bright red animal print is a great alternative to your basic LBD, plus the frock's sexy one-shoulder silhouette and braided knot detailing make this an instant crowd pleaser. Finish your look with a pair of black heels, and you'll be ready to hit the dance floor.

Distressed Leather Cropped Tee ($343, 971.344.8624)
The entire Who What Wear team is fanatically fond of anything cropped (yes, both tops and bottoms), so when we spotted this Distressed Leather Cropped Tee, it was love at first sight. In fact, we heart this top so much that we've already come up with ways to wear this must-buy piece all year long. Start incorporating it into your rotation now with a pair of denim cutoffs or high-waisted print pants, then wear it with a black maxi skirt when fall rolls around.

Utility Skinny Pocket Pants ($305, 212.253.0953) in Brown Wash
Skinny cargos are de rigueur, but while most style mavens rock them in army green, Shakuhachi puts a rock'n'roll twist on the beloved bottoms via a rusty gold wash. This simple tweak makes them feel totally currentÂ--no wonder we have a hard time resisting their cool-girl vibe! Play up the pants' androgynous qualities by pairing them with a vintage band tee or style them with a black metallic tank for a more feminine ensemble.

Cold As Ice Pocket Shirt ($248, 971.344.8624) in Blue Wash
The autumnal months are creeping up fast, but it's not too late to add to your denim shirt collection! Unlike your typical masculine button-up, the Cold As Ice Pocket Shirt has a more ladylike shape with its collarless neck, asymmetrical hemline, and loose-fitting sleeves. Paired with your favorite jeans, this Shakuhachi selection is right on trend with the cool blue hues of summer.
