Kim Kardashian West on When She Was “So Embarrassed” in Front of Karl Lagerfeld

Kim and Kanye's buzzy September cover of Harper's Bazaar is on everyone's radar, and, naturally, Kim shared a behind-the-scenes rundown of the photo shoot on her app for curious minds. Karl Lagerfeld shot the cover in Paris, and in the post, Kim admits that on her first shoot with the designer—back in 2013 for CR Fashion Book—she was expecting the gift of a Chanel bag.

She explains that she had heard Lagerfeld gifts everyone a Chanel bag on his first shoot with them, so Kim was as happy as anyone would be to be photographed by the legend and receive a designer bag. However, that wasn't the case. Momager Kris Jenner showed up to the shoot in head-to-toe Chanel and stole the show from there. "I thought she was SO embarrassing, LOL, but Karl loved it so much that he pulled out a Chanel purse—not just any purse, but their beautiful crystal Lego clutch," Kim says. "I got so excited, thinking Karl was going to give me a surprise bag, but instead he goes straight to the Chanel queen herself: Kris Jenner."

Lucky for Kim, three years later she finally got her gift, and then some, when she confessed her story to the designer. "For this Harper’s Bazaar shoot, I finally told Karl and Carine [Roitfeld] this story, and they thought it was hilarious,” she writes. "At the end of the shoot, Karl surprised me with not one but TWO Chanel bags. I will forever be grateful for SUCH a special moment. My dream of getting a Chanel bag from Karl finally came true!" Um, can you say, #goals?
