Kerry Washington Just Designed a Bag With Tommy Hilfiger

Jessica Schiffer

We always love it when fashion gives back to an important cause, so we’re really into Tommy Hilfiger’s latest project, spearheaded by the one and only Kerry Washington. Per WWD, the duo has designed a limited-edition purse with the purpose of bringing attention to domestic violence and financial abuse. Available soon for $350 at all Saks Fifth Avenue locations and on the department store’s website, the crocodile-embossed purple clutch comes with a removable crossbody strap, rose-gold hardware, and a suede interior. Twenty-five percent of all proceeds will go to the Allstate Foundation, a charity that works to financially empower domestic abuse survivors.

At the unveiling at New York’s Plaza Hotel this past Thursday, Washington explained of her participation, “This was an opportunity to work in fashion in a way that wasn’t about making people feel uncool because they can’t afford something, or that they have to measure up. It was about making women understand their power. This purse is not about being an It bag. The bag is about empowering women.” Now that’s something we can get behind.
