Style Standoff: Kate Middleton Vs. Cressida Bonas. Whose Side Are You On?

It’s no secret that Prince William and Prince Harry have completely opposite taste in women. While William prefers demure brunettes, Harry’s dated a string of life-of-the-party blondes. Now royal-watchers are buzzing that his latest paramour, Cressida Bonas, might just be The One.

  •  To determine how she’ll measure up, style-wise, to her (potential) sister-in-law, we’re analyzing how the two wear the same trends —body-con, plaid, monochrome, and more—in very different ways. Decide whose fashion you prefer and shop their looks, here.

    Body-con

Of course, the obvious joke here is that Middleton doesn’t do body-con. This slinky purple dress by her favorite label, Issa, is perhaps the most form-fitting thing we’ve seen her in. (And trust us, we’ve logged in plenty of research hours).

The 24-year-old Bonas earns major style points for this sexy-but-chic long-sleeved dress, which she paired with strappy black sandals and a minimalist shoulder bag. We approve one thousand percent.

    Denim

We don’t see Middleton in denim very often, and when she does wear it, she tends to pick dressier pieces like this white Zara jean skirt. Here, she looks like a quintessential Sloane Ranger (London’s version of a preppy) with an eggplant-hue cable knit sweater and suede knee boots.

Bonas stays on trend without looking like she tried too hard in baggy overalls, round sunglasses, and old-school sneakers.  And we give her kudos for her attempt to single-handedly bring back the scrunchie.

    Monochrome

Although monochrome can often come across as edgy, Middleton looks anything but in this dainty lace Zara frock and fitted jacket, which she accessorized with high-but-not-too-high heels and the perfect blowout.

Bonas could easily be mistaken for her catwalker doppelgänger, Cara Delevingne, in this tough lux ensemble consisting of a leather moto jacket, scuffed up ankle boots, studded shortie shorts, and a black knit cap.

  • Plaid

    Plaid

Middleton’s looks every bit the lady in a fit-and-flair Moloh tartan coat, opaque tights, and understated boots.

    Plaid

Trailed by a press-shy Harry, Bonas’ dons a sporty plaid jacket. The rest of her ensemble — skinny jeans, combat boots— speaks to a tomboy vibe that’s only slightly offset by a navy blouse and statement necklace.

    Eveningwear

Middleton looks wow-worthy in this blush-hued Jenny Packham dress that’s truly fit for a princess. It’s glamorous without being glitzy and flatters her slender frame.

Bonas’ blue velvet jacket and floral headwear speaks to a playful boho vibe that’s in keeping with her supposedly fun and laid-back personality.
