Karlie Kloss Makes a Case for Wearing Velvet

Mary Peffer

Velvet has been all over the runways but can feel like an intimidating fabric to pull off. Due to the fabric's unique texture it can cause worry around certain angles, but that's exactly why it's so great. Karlie Kloss proves there's no reason not to embrace the shimmery, sexy '70s fabric. And we're onboard with her spirited welcome of velvet back into our wardrobe. The supermodel wore an emerald Cushnie et Ochs one-shoulder knee-length dress in New York this week paired with a metallic pump, and the fashion set quickly started buzzing. We called it first last month: Velvet is having a big moment right now—it's festive even. And the industry stamp of approval arrives just as we wonder what to wear to our next holiday party.
