Karlie Kloss Just Wore the Flats Brigitte Bardot Made Famous
Another day, another fabulous Cannes outfit for Karlie Kloss. This time, the model dressed up her casual outfit by styling a cute crop top with a matching feminine skirt. Her gamine-inspired look was complemented with a pair of quintessentially French flats that were popularized by Brigitte Bardot.
Repetto was known for making shoes for dancers, and Bardot, a trained dancer, asked founder Rose Repetto to create an everyday pair of flats that were comfortable and flexible, like her ballerina shoes. In 1956, the Cendrillon style was born, and the rest, as they say, is history. Check out the vintage photo of Bardot posing in a red pair of the classic flats, and see how Kloss styled them in 2016.
On Kloss: Christine Alcalay Linen Stripe Off-the-Shoulder Top ($475), Pleated A-Line Skirt ($162); Paul Smith Lovell Sunglasses in Spotty Tortoise; Jimmy Choo Lockett Leather Bag ($1450); Repetto White Cendrillon Ballet Flats ($199).
