Jonathan Simkhai Does Evening Gowns for the First Time, Crushes It

If you saw Jourdan Dunn's slinky, beaded dress at the 2016 CFDA Awards, then you caught a glimpse of Jonathan Simkhai's first-ever evening gown collection. The designer, who was the 2015 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund recipient, presented his Resort 17 line (or "pre-spring," as he refers to it), which included eight handmade evening gowns in addition to his signature feminine separates.

"I have been doing some special red carpet looks and I have always loved to connect with the customer, so this was the perfect opportunity to expand, Simkhai tells WWD of his decision to design eveningwear. Inspired by the iconic glass ceilings of Paris's Grand Palais and Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Simkhai showed heavily embellished floor-length gowns—one of which is styled with trousers—that featured a plethora of feathers, beaded detailing, shredded chiffon, and intricate embroidery. The results are totally gorgeous, and we can't wait to see all eight of the gowns make their red carpet debut.

Check out the eight beautiful evening gowns from the Jonathan Simkhai Resort 17 collection below.
