Jessica Alba on Being Underestimated in Hollywood

Erin Fitzpatrick

Jessica Alba has enjoyed plenty of success with The Honest Company, but she's had her fair share of setbacks in her transition from actress to entrepreneur.

In a new interview with Net-a-Porter's The Edit, Alba chatted with Tory Burch about running her business. Burch asked Alba if she was underestimated when she started her company, given that she was already an established actress. "Certainly people in Hollywood underestimated me," Alba responded. "They absolutely, 100 percent thought I was nuts. … It’s hard for people to take you seriously when you’re known for entertaining, because there are preconceived ideas of what it is to be an entertainer."

She went on to say that she even surprised herself along the way. "I don’t think people knew what I was capable of—I didn’t know what I was capable of—until I actually did it." Head over to The Edit to read the rest of her enlightening interview.
