Ivanka Trump’s Rules for Office Holiday Party Dressing
The office holiday party is often a topic of much deliberation. Do you bring a significant other? (No.) Do you enjoy a few drinks? (Focus on the word few.) And the question arises every year, especially when you’re new to a company—what do you wear? By all means, dress festively and have fun, but remember you’ll be back in meetings together tomorrow. Employ a few basic guidelines to ensure you don’t have to have a surprise tête-à-tête with your manager when you get in the next morning. Keep reading for my dressing dos and don'ts.
Trade your practical pumps for dramatic crisscross heels, especially if the party involves a seated meal. If you’re going to be on your feet or mingling on a hard floor, go for mid-heels, thick heels, or even festive flats like the Tropica Flats from the Ivanka Trump collection. Nobody wants to duck out early due to aching feet.
With the exception of a lunch in the middle of the day, go for something a bit more glamorous. If it’s a conservative group, wear a beautiful cocktail dress with sleeves—or choose a great dress with a fitted blazer. Avoid jeans, period, unless you’ll be meeting at a bowling alley (#TeamIvanka did last year!).
