While Goyard bags have been enjoying a certain fashion heat since the turn of the century, their distinctive totes featuring the signature, interlocking chevrons have been the choice of tastemakers and celebrities for over 150 years. Of course, in the 1800's, European royalty (the stars of that era) weren't snapped carrying Goyard handbags by the paparazzi, they simply ordered the luxury luggage from the company.
As seen on Nicky Hilton, above, Nicole Richie, and Michelle Williams, the bags currently come in two sizes, medium ($940) and large ($1065), and ten colors. The coolest Goyards are customized with racing stripes and the owner's monogram, which bumps the price up a bit ($310 gets you three stripes and three letters) but also adds a certain heirloom quality to the bag. Unfortunately, Goyard bags are not available online, but they're carried at Barneys in LA and NYC, Bergdorf Goodman, and at the San Francisco flagship, which is the only free-standing Goyard store outside of Paris. If you like the look but would prefer a less expensive variation, check out the Market Bag by Jaye Hersh City Totes. Picking up one of these woven plastic, canvas-lined bags will only set you back about $85, and for an additional $20 (for two) to $30 (for three), you can get your initials added to the bag. The City Tote is usually available in black and blue, but blue is currently sold out. If your heart is set on blue, there are other styles available like the Messenger (starting at $95) and Weekender ($100). You'll be in good company, Lindsay Lohan, above, was recently spotted with this bag.
