Chloe F/W 08-09
On another note, as loyal WhoWhatWear.com subscribers, surely you've noticed how we always emphasis the importance of the unexpected. Chloe's F/W 08 collection is a great example of this, after all, who would have guessed that floral-print chiffon dresses would be a surefire winter hit? Granted, Paulo Melim Andersson (the creative director at the time) paired them with weather-appropriate outerwear, like fur-collared jackets and wool double-breasted coats, but it's an interesting, counterintuitive choice nevertheless!
Of course, that's not the only delightful decision Andersson made. We also approve of the season's floral patterned tights, leaf-embellished pointy booties, and tiered frilly frocks. As a whole, the collection is so cool and we highly suggest that you check out the Chiffon Applique Dress ($9078), Chainlink Slouch Bag ($1522), and Asymmetric Ankle Boots ($757)-for inspiration of course! But don't worry, dear readers, we've got like-minded versions of those items, plus a few other Chloe-like delights, so read on and enjoy! -Jessica Amento
1. Kimchi Blue Alpine Jacket ($148)
We are complete advocates for cruelty-free fashion statements, so we were delighted when we found an amazing faux fur interpretation of a runway jacket at Urban Outfitters! The super soft Kimchi Blue Alpine Jacket will keep you warm all winter long and its cropped silhouette will give you a very Chloe-inspired look.
2. Julie K Gigi Mini Bag($176)
Ever since one of our WhoWhatWear.com editors invested in one of Chloe's multi-chain link bags, we have all been coveting something similar. We found the fix we were looking for when we stumbled upon this bright azure purse. Its structure, size, and gold-chain strap are all completely Chloe!
3. Kate Moss for Topshop Paisley Tunic Dress ($125)
Not only is the design of this dress oh-so-Chloe, it's also perfectly aligned with the season's floral trend and versatile enough to wear well into spring! Until then, style it with Forever 21's Floral Print Tights ($7) and an oversized, double-breasted coat for a cute, cozy look.
4. L'Oreal HIP Jelly Balm in Luscious ($9)
The beauty look at Chloe really resonated with us; we simply adored the combination of slightly disheveled, carefree locks paired with nearly nude faces and dark berry-bitten lips. While Lucia Peroni used MAC's deep plum Nightmoth Lip Pencil ($13) for the show, we actually prefer to get the look via L'Oreal's HIP Jelly Balm in Luscious ($9). It's super soft and gives your lips just the right amount of color!
5. Jeffrey Campbell Booties($154)
No matter how great a collection appears to be, the make-or-break point often depends on caliber of the shoes. Thankfully, the sharp stilettos that came down Chloe's runway only amplified the clothes! We immediately fell in love with a pair of leaf-detailed ankle boots, but couldn't justify the $1500 price tag. As such, we were overjoyed when Jeffrey Campbell created a similar style (at a tenth of the price)! We suggest that you scoop them up today.
6. Topshop Sequin Bar Detail Skirt ($80)
If you glance at the model's attire in today's artwork, you'll immediately see how closely this Topshop skirt corresponds with the styles seen on the runway. The navy blue shade, sheer fabric, and sequin embellishments are all relevant elements to Chloe's fall selections, so it is a crucial piece in today's story!
