Back-story aside, as we considered the collection's fusion of monarchical coats, tulle petticoat-like skirts, and white tights, we also couldn't help but immediately visualize additional inhabitants within McQueen's visionary tree-perhaps the cast of The Tudors putting on a dark production of The Nutcracker? Wherever your imagination takes you, it is clear that each of McQueen's pieces are dramatic enough to tell their own story, if you let them. We will forever lust after many of these fall pieces-specifically his Lace Panel Coat Dress ($3680), Embellished Stud Belt ($630) and Union Jack Clutch ($1400)-but we thought it wise to find a few less costly pieces that share the collection's theatrical and regal spirit. Read on for the finest McQueen-style articles around, selections fitting the designer's royal muse, at a price even we commoners can afford.-Jessica Amento
1. Arden B Ethnic Pendant Necklace ($44, 323.954.9150)
Prior to designing his fall collection, McQueen visited India for a month to gather additional inspiration. One look at the sequined flats and jeweled diadems that came down the runway and it's clear that his trip was successful! As such, we chose this gorgeously ornate necklace from Arden B because it specifically reminds us of the chandelier earrings worn by McQueen's models.
2. Topshop Bandstand Military Jacket ($130)
The instrumental cover of Nirvana's "Come As You Are" that played during McQueen's runway show complemented his riveting designs so well that it evoked euphoric sentiments in every last audience member (or so we hear). The high neckline and Victorian punk feeling of this Topshop coat stirs up similar emotions among those of us at WhoWhatWear.com headquarters. You can wear it over a tulle skirt and white tights for a faithful ode to McQueen's vision, though it will work equally well with your favorite tee from The Row and a slim pair of jeans.
3. Nine West Iam Ankle Bootie ($109)
The juxtaposition of the leather-on-lace detailing in McQueen's collection is captured perfectly by these booties. It seems our entire office has ordered a pair, so we suggest you do the same before they sell out!
4. Mischen Bow Pin ($95)
Fashion always relies heavily on the details, so we were thrilled to find this exquisite adornment. You can add it to a completely "Inspired By" outfit or pin it on an otherwise basic jacket for subtle hint of McQueen style. Either way, it will give your ensemble the perfect finishing touch!
5. Benefit Brow Zings ($30)
McQueen's makeup artist, Peter Phillips, kept the models' beauty look minimal, but placed a strong emphasis on their eyebrows. You can achieve a similar dramatic facade by drawing and shaping your brows with this awesome defining kit from Benefit. It has all the mini tools (tweezers, wax, blending brush) needed for creating perfect brows!
6. ASOS Lace Gloves ($8)
These gloves could have easily served as an accessory in our Currently Channeling: Tim Burton story, because they are precisely in line with the current gothic trend. This is an excellent way to work lace into your outfit without committing to a larger look.
7. Victoria's Secret Pleated Skirt ($60)
McQueen proved he was well named by crafting high-volume silhouettes of tulle, embroidered knits, and ermine that are suitable for royalty. This shimmering silver full skirt is equally regal and you can revisit our Who What Wear TV: Fall Skirt Trends episode for fresh ideas on how to wear it!
