Is This Startup the Answer to Easier Online Returns?

Erin Fitzpatrick

Have you ever gotten super excited about something you ordered online only to realize it doesn't fit, you have to pay to ship it back, and you have to wait over a week for a refund? If that sounds familiar, you might be pleased to hear about a startup called Happy Returns.

As Re/Code reports, the startup lets customers make returns at Happy Returns kiosks inside physical stores and malls. Et voilà—you don't have to pack up your return or pay for shipping, and you get your refund on the spot. The startup, which was founded by HauteLook alums, has already raised $1.9 million in funding, according to Re/Code.

“When you make it significantly easier to return items, people buy more,” co-founder Mark Geller told Re/Code. In addition to benefiting shoppers, the founders think the company will also benefit the participating stores and malls because of the "increased foot traffic at a time when many of them desperately need it."
