While Alba's nonstop career has allowed her to portray a wide variety of personalities--everything from a hip-hop dancer with a heart of gold (how can you not love Honey?!) to an ingénue to a superhero to a tough-as-nails immigration officer in the recent thriller Machete--in the third installment of the hilarity-inducing Meet the Parents franchise, she flexes her acting muscles once again as an in-your-face pharmaceutical rep falling for Ben Stiller's character. Yet, while Alba's on-screen shenanigans may have us rolling on the floor, her sartorial picks are no laughing matter! This starlet is serious about style this season, starting with Narciso Rodriguez's Resort 11 collection, which caught her eye with its '90s-inspired flair. In light of the holidays, she's also in the market for some party-perfect pieces like Preen's Bridget Dress ($2032), which was another one of her stellar selections! As for the rest of what our enigmatic Guest Editor adores this festive month, well, you're just going to have to read on to find out!
Joya Reserve Caprice de la Mode Candle ($32)
Alba gets an A+ when it comes to etiquette; after all, she spotlighted this lavender and cardamom-scented candle as an ideal hostess present for the holiday season--one she would find equally delightful to give as well as receive. We couldn't agree more with this tasteful selection; an elegant addition to any room, this refined candle is sure to elevate and add a touch of the exotic to any surroundings.
Anndra Neen Cage Circle Ring ($145)
Inspired by French medieval armor and accented with spikes or cage detailing, Anndra Neen jewelry has a definite edge. Yet, the baubles' handcrafted aspect instantly upgrades these mixed-metal pieces to make them feel like a work of art. Alba clearly loves these museum-worthy adornments as she was recently spotted at the American Music Awards using the Checkered Choker ($575) and the Ying Yang ($475) and Mini Cage ($395) Cuffs to add tough-girl panache to her Cushnie et Ochs architectural, one-shouldered frock. As such, it's no surprise that she also adores this ring!
Revlon Top Speed Nail Color ($6) in Emerald
Alba has been the Brand Ambassador for Revlon since 2007, which means that in addition to starring in numerous global campaigns, she also lends her time to philanthropic activities such as last May's Revlon Run/Walk. This January will see her extending her beauty duties to be the face of the new Top Speed Nail Enamel line which includes this Wizard of Oz-worthy gemstone hue, available at your local drugstore January 11th. We love the mesmerizing green color--it's an ideal accent for Resort's minimalist and floral-print pieces--and will easily leave others green with envy and lusting over your marvelous manicure!
Vince Rugby Sweater ($265)
Alba can't live without her cozy sweaters, and routinely pairs them with everything from skirts to leggings, depending on the day. To add some seasonal flavor into her knits, she's reaching for this sparkly, striped Vince sweater, which is sure to get any outfit in the holiday spirit!
Nobody Cult Skinny Jeans ($209) in Junkie
Skinny jeans are undoubtedly a closet essential, and we could dedicate days searching for the perfect pair! Luckily, Alba did the dirty work for us and sleuthed out Nobody's light blue version as her denim of choice. It's a savvy choice; this Australian cult brand has quickly seeped into the denim consciousness, with sightings on fashion favorites like Rihanna and Zoe Saldana, in addition to our Guest Editor herself. The strategically distressed bottoms have the perfect amount of stretch, so they're readily adaptable to whatever the day brings, meaning that "Mom jeans" they are anything but!
Jeffrey Campbell Daisy D Shoes ($140)
We're longtime fans of Jeffrey Campbell's chunky boots and wild wedges, so we were accordingly elated when Alba selected one of the brand's new spring shoes as her footwear du jour. The petite starlet loves the chunky platform for the extra leg-lengthening boost, while the cheetah pattern is in perfect keeping with the recent animal-print craze.
La Mer Crème de la Mer ($230)
We like a lady who's loyal to her products, particularly when they truly perform. Alba owes her dewy complexion to this celebrity-adored standby, so we know it's definitely investment-worthy to say the least!
Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Bridget Dress ($2032, 305.864.0202)
As seasoned stalkers of Alba's top-notch style, we know she often flips for a frock with a fitted bodice and A-line skirt. Thus, we weren't surprised when she selected Preen's runway stunner for her festive holiday fare. The crimson hue is spot-on for the soiree-studded season, while the full-skirted shape is refreshingly au courant. Try Nanette Lepore's Ingrid Dress ($368) or Zara's Tulip-Skirt Dress ($169) if you, too, would like to get your hands on a vermillion party frock; all three would look excellent with lace-up black booties for a directional cocktail look.
Narciso Rodriguez Essence Iridescent Eau de Perfume ($78)
While having a go-to scent is always a must, we appreciate someone who isn't afraid to mix it up and dabble in something new. With this in mind, Alba selected Narciso Rodriguez's latest spring release--a floral, powdery fragrance with notes of iris and rose. The light and feminine scent is quite versatile--Alba enjoys that it is equally appropriate for day or night--plus the mirrored bottle is seductively unfussy, and will look sleek amidst the collection on your countertop.
Coach Greta Glam Beret ($98)
A chic chapeau is an absolute necessity as the weather turns frigid--or to stealthily disguise day-old hair--and this offering from Coach is just too cute to pass up! Alba already has it in her accessory arsenal; she just wore it for an appearance on the Today Show earlier this week, expertly using it to punctuate a wintery look consisting of a gray dress, a charcoal coat, and a masterfully knotted light gray scarf.--Liza Kaplan
