Goop Wants You to Do What With Your Bra?

Adrianna Barrionuevo

If you want to get over a breakup, lifestyle site Goop suggests getting rid of any bras worn throughout the relationship… by lighting them on fire. It sounds crazy, but studies have shown that such rituals have positive psychological benefits, so before you knock it, hear out the folks at Goop.

Life adviser and relationship expert Suzannah Galland says that a fire ritual is an ancient practice of spiritual cleansing to represent getting rid of the old and welcoming the new. "The lingerie you wore with past lovers can carry the toxic residue of those relationships, along with painful memories," she explains. "While we might not think to trash lingerie that once made us feel so good—or that we spent a lot of money on—it's a powerful, healing gesture to make." Galland even explains how to safely burn your bras, along with the memories they represent, because who isn't up for a little empowerment-boost after a breakup?
