Vibrant Things

Every once in a while we come across a trend that truly straddles the seasons. Granted, it's rare to find something that will look equally attractive for (in this case) summer and fall. Wonderfully, we found that vibrant things will do just that!

Bright chunks of color look swell in the summer as they make you look tan and convey a sense of energy and happiness. Just looking at the hues of Lindsay Lohan's long dress reminds us of Otter Pops (if popsicles don't put you in a good mood, our condolences). This fall the look continues, as Technicolor apparel was featured by Etro, Chloe, Miu Miu, Marni and Stella. So for those of you who are bored with your summer stuff and not ready to start wearing autumn's woolies, why not go for this transitional trend?

On A Side Note: If the vivid palette freaks you out, an easy way to incorporate this trend in your fall look is via some richly hued tights. Urban Outfitters makes their Sparkle & Fade Opaque Tights in colors like Bright Yellow, Turquoise, and Hot Pink (Katherine already has Bright Blue and Purple). Since they're only $20 for two pairs, it's very low-risk and high-impact. ($20/2 pairs, urbanoutfitters.com)

UPDATE/On Another Side Note: For those of you wondering, Lindsay's dress is the Lipsy Colorblock Maxi Dress and is currently available-thanks Mariel! ($208, lfstores.com)

1. Rachel Leigh Prads Square Jet Necklace, $176, rachelleigh.com
Inspired by the upcoming season's large, colorful, geometric accessories-particularly the pieces at Prada-Rachel Leigh created this gorgeous piece for her Fall collection. The gold-plated, hand-painted enamel, and Swarovski crystal stone necklace is a spot-on way to ease into the vibrant trend.

2. Tulle ¾ Sleeve Wool Jacket, $85, tulle4us.com
The mustard-yellow color, fitted shape, and affordable price makes this Tulle jacket a perfect between season piece. It's also available in a bright red (Chili Pepper) color as well as classic black and neutral too.

3. Marni Knitted Gloves, $200, brownsfashion.com
Elbow-length, cashmere gloves might seem like an odd choice upon first glance, but we think the deep grape color makes them much more festive than the average pair. For those readers who live in colder climates, we assure you the gloves' longer arms will keep you uber toasty when temperatures dip.

4. Chanel bracelet, $1975, chanel.com for select boutiques
Wearing this metal and resin bangle from Chanel would be a little like wearing a pop piece of Cubist art on your wrist.

5. Catherine Malandrino Silk Bubble Dress, $687, mytheresa.com
In a sea of basic black dresses, this bright fuchsia silk mini is lively and unusual. Malandrino always has very woman-friendly design sensibilities, so while the juicy color will draw attention, the forgiving cut will hide figure flaws.

6. Pierre Hardy Satin Mutlicolor Square Sandal, price upon request, pierrehardy.com
Cult shoe designer Pierre Hardy is always a celeb favorite (Lohan's wearing a pair of yellow and black Hardys, above), and these heeled sandals are just a beautiful piece of work.

7. OPI Nail Polish in Just Groovy, $7.50, opi.com
The recent collection of OPI polish, Psychedelic Summer, includes the turquoise zing of "Just Groovy." This is another vibrant color trend showcased by Lohan, just check out her bright blue fingers in the image above.
