Comics
Chalk it up to the recent Comic-Con International convention in San Diego or to the fact that The Amazing Spiderman and The Dark Knight Rises are currently raking in box-office gold; whatever the cause, there's no denying the comic world has catapulted itself back into the spotlight! Its seamless foray into high fashion hasn't gone unnoticed either, thanks to designers like Phillip Lim and Markus Lupfer plastering tongue-in-cheek pop art on everything from nubby sweaters to covetable clutches. The result: amusing, comic-inspired clothing and accessories that will go over like a BANG! and have a slew of sartorially-minded fans saying KA-POW! this season. Accordingly, today's fashion roundup packs a one-two punch in terms of style and personality, which is why we're filing these pieces under the header Go Buy Now!

The Inspiration
Phillip Lim credited classic superheroes and neo-noir comics as references for his Pre-Fall 12 collection, which, as always, boasted a very accessible, versatile, and irresistibly cool selection of clothing and accessories. We suspect the playful t-shirts and sweaters featuring large onomonopia graphics across the front, like the Ka-Pow Cardigan ($450), will get a ton of wear as a slew of fashion insiders are sure to sport the statement-making pieces come Fashion Week this fall. Additionally, we can't talk about inspiration for today's comic story without mentioning the major influences of artist Roy Lichtenstein, whose iconic cartoon-style images play on traditional comic strip themes and revolutionized the pop art world. Note: the largest exhibition ever dedicated to the late artist, "Roy Lichtenstein: A Retrospective," is now on display at the Chicago Art Institute until September 3rd.

On The Market/Clothing
In addition to the adorable knits at Phillip Lim, we'd like to present you with even more in the way of must-have comic clothing, starting with Markus Lupfer's Kapow! Sequined Merino Wool Sweater ($475). In a flash, this cozy pullover will rescue you from a between-seasons wardrobe rut; wear it now with a bright mini skirt, then swap in a pair of leather pants come fall. If the sweltering August heat has you avoiding long sleeves, grab Textile Elizabeth and James' Bang Fairfax Tee ($88) in Ivory. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have created yet another closet essential with their t-shirt version of today's look, which translates into a killer weekend outfit paired with denim cutoffs and sneakers. G-Star's Correct Line Dot Shorts ($150) are also an excellent investment, as they not only hit on today's pop art theme, but on the popular polka-dot trend too!

On The Market/Accessories
Longing for a comic accessory to punch up your look? Well, you're in luck, because there are a multitude of items for you to try. In the bag department, we've got our eye on Modcloth's Comic Stylings Bag ($35), as the vibrant canvas carrier makes a great beach tote or weekend getaway bag. Of course, we're also saving up for 3.1 Phillip Lim's The Break-Up Patchwork 31 Minute Bag ($650), which might be small, but believe us, adds loads of character to a LBD. On the jewelry front, we think you should snag Hannah Zakari's Big POW! Necklace ($35) in Blue Glitter to add a little zing to your daytime ensemble or Juicy Couture's Lightening Bold Studs ($42) for a very striking finish! You really can't go wrong with the Cat Sunglasses ($370) by Tsumori Chisato either; the modern cat-eye shape is reminiscent of Robin's mask, of Batman fame, after all. And finally shoe-wise, nothing fits the bill quite like Robert Clergerie's Jalino Oxfords ($775), which feature a visually captivating patent leather overlay.

On the Market/Beauty
But wait, there are some fantastic beauty products we need to mention too! As you've probably gathered by now, primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) play an important role in today's look, and we've got something to represent each brilliant shade. First up, channel Wonder Woman's enticing pout with Cle de Peau's Extra Rich Lipstick ($60) in R2. The velvety red shade will give your kisser a pop of rich color. If you choose to forgo the bold lip, illuminate your eyes with Dolce & Gabbana's Crayon Intense Eyeliner ($29) in Acqua instead. Just glide the sky blue pencil along the lash line, extending slightly past the outer corner for an unforgettable, after-hours cat-eye. For a subtler take on the trend, go for a bright manicure using It Girl from Deborah Lippmann's Run The World Nail Lacquer Set ($45). The bright yellow hue will lend any warm-weather look a zap of on-point color!--Jessica Baker
