On The Runway
The buckled footwear at Michael Kors, which included lug-sole lace-up boots and schoolgirl platform heels, was the perfect final touch to the collection's outdoorsy, cabin-in-the-woods theme--think: buffalo checks, shearling, and striped blanket ponchos. One of our favorites from the show, which was sadly not produced, featured a sturdy stacked, heeled, thick platform, and a day-to-evening versatility with street-ready appeal.
On The Streets
The triple buckle, red Chloe Susanna Studded Leather Boots ($1345) have been a street style favorite since the day they hit stores, and with so many interesting ways to wear these mid-heel beauties it's easy to see why. While they pair perfectly with skinny jeans or a mini skirt, we have to applaud Atlanta de Cadenet-Taylor for her unexpected yet completely cool styling, as seen on Stockholm Street Style. The tastemaker tempered an ornately beaded Chanel dress with these low-key boots, which grounded the elegant frock for a luxe daytime look.
On The Market
1. Alexander Wang Leather Monk-Strap Brogues ($425)
Leave it to Mr. Wang to create yet another desirable shoe! This time, it's a pair of mannish monk-strap brogues in the most amazing red leather. All you need now is a cropped pantsuit to complete an on-point, borrowed-from-the-boys look.
2. Acne Clover Boots ($550) in Petrol
If you want your buckled footwear to make a statement this season, look no further than Acne's Clover Boots in Petrol. The sky blue hue, wrap-around buckle, and low heel ensure these ankle boots will punch up any off-the-clock look. Not sold on blue? Try them in the more versatile black or chestnut.
3. AllSaints Widow Buckle Boots ($365)
Equal parts tough and chic, AllSaint's current take on buckled footwear has a neo-Goth vibe we're instantly drawn to. For an intriguing after-hours ensemble, contrast their edgy look with a lacy frock and opaque tights.
4. Jil Sander Leather Monk-Strap Ankle Boots ($870)
This fall, take a cue from the men and invest in a pair of monk-strap shoes. We have our hearts set on these Jil Sander boots-the combination of midnight blue and black patent leather is elegant and definitely unique. Slip them on to add polish to cuffed jeans and slouchy sweatshirts. Have a fall wardrobe budget to stick to? Frye's James Double Monk Shoes ($218) are equally chic-and offer a more affordable style you don't want to miss.
5. Aldo Brackney Booties ($160) in Bordeaux Suede
What happens when you combine a chic evening bootie, wrap-around buckle detailing, and the season's hottest shade (bordeaux)? You get Aldo's Brackney Booties-a foolproof wardrobe essential! Styling suggestion: go for an intriguing mix of oxblood hues with a leather skirt and nubby coat.
6. Giuseppe Zanotti Laceless Ankle Boots ($1360)
With an irresistibly cool combat boot vibe, Giuseppe Zanotti's Laceless Ankle Boots are a quick nod to the season's military trend. Play up their utilitarian spirit with a camo jacket, or go for a '90s-inspired look and style them with a velvet dress. If you can't invest quite so much, Pour La Victoire's Flat Moto Booties ($350) are a stellar alternative!
7. Zara Flat Ankle Boots with Buckles ($129)
Equipped with four buckle fastening straps and a sleek, ankle-grazing shape, these Zara boots are almost identical to the covetable Chloe rendition mentioned above. And if that's not reason enough to snag a pair now, then the fact that they're available at a fraction of the cost should do the trick!
8. KORS Michael Kors Meridian Boots ($395)
Whether you're treading through snow or hitting the city streets, Michael Kors has your footwear needs covered with his Meridian Boots. Seamlessly melding function and style, the utility boots feature a side zip for easy on-off access, while a lace-up front and buckle strap at the ankle ensure your foot will stay comfortably in place all day long.--Jessica Baker
