Solange Knowles

Your Who What Wear editors are always inspired by truly unique and creative outfits, which is precisely the reason why we're highlighting a woman with exactly that skill (and so much more!): Solange Knowles! Though you may recognize her as Beyonce's younger sister, this uber-talented songstress is definitely forging her own path with a one-of-a-kind voice and a distinctive style. Much like with her music--a lovely mash-up of classic and contemporary styles--Knowles approaches fashion with a mix in mind. That means opting for traditional silhouettes in funky prints and adding unexpected, yet smart accent pieces to create her signature bohemian flare. We simply couldn't pass up the opportunity to share her incredible style with you, dear readers, which is why she's the perfect subject for today's edition of Girl of the Month!

One of the things we like about Knowles' stylish sensibilities is her ability to effortlessly combine patterns, colors, and textures. Whether she's pairing a silky, striped turban with a rope necklace and printed Opening Ceremony Oversized Embellished Cardigan ($395), a neutral knit Max Azria sweater with bright accessories, or combining three different patterns for a standout look, Knowles always manages to impress us with her fresh, well-executed ensembles. With that in mind, we've hand-picked several pieces--including a pair of tribal-print wedges, a brilliantly-hued raffia clutch, and a fabulous patterned blouse--that will help you achieve a Knowles-inspired look in no time. We hope you'll love these items as much as we do!

Opening Ceremony Ladder Trim Babydoll Dress ($360) in Navy
When we spotted the outfit Knowles wore to NYFW in September (top, left), we instantly fell in love! What especially piqued our interest was her white Peter Pan collar, which added just the right amount of youthful spirit to her black tailored shorts and Iris Van Herpen X United Nude cream ankle boots. If you enjoy her outfit as much as we do, you're in luck because this dress by Opening Ceremony is sure to help you achieve a similar, pseudo-innocent look. This adorable babydoll frock is a great buy and we recommend picking one up before it's too late!

Topshop 3 Row Chunky Rope Necklace ($40) in Cream
Knowles loves a bold accessory or two, and her intriguing necklace at Night of a Billion Reality Stars at Lexington Social House in Los Angeles earlier this month (large image) was no exception. Her double-layer rope necklace with metal accents instantly caught our eye, and we think this Topshop iteration is a worthy alternative. The best part, you might ask? The wallet-friendly price tag, which makes us crave it even more--if that was even possible!

Mar Y Sol Opal Applique Clutch ($79) in Mango
On a hot summer day, the last thing you want to do is lug around a cumbersome bag, so we suggest lightening your load with this gorgeous clutch by Mar y Sol. Perfect for storing your essentials, we think this hand-woven raffia option is an absolute must-have! We're also sure Knowles would approve; as a clutch-lover who never shys away from color, she would definitely appreciate the bright orange hue!

Juicy Couture Eclectic Bangle Set ($148)
A Knowles-inspired ensemble would not be complete without bohemian accessories. Accordingly, we thought this bangle set by Juicy Couture would be the perfect finish to any warm-weather look. Not unlike our GOTM's personal style, these baubles feature an eclectic mix of patterns and colors, resulting in a unique and intriguing combo. We suggest pairing them with a flowy maxi dress for a spot-on outfit this season!

Theodora and Callum Lobiarritz Printed Linen Sandals ($395)
As summer approaches, you might be tempted to reach for a pair of go-anywhere flip-flops, but we recommend upgrading to these beautiful print sandals by Theodora and Callum instead. We think our GOTM would be drawn to the visually intriguing blue-and-white Navajo pattern, which would look amazing with everything from a crocheted white dress to denim shorts. Plus, these shoes are perfect for a slew of occasions--like beach vacations and shopping excursions--not that you needed an excuse to wear them!

Coquille Dorothy Shorts ($78)
If you're searching for the perfect pair of shorts this summer, look no further than this option by Coquille. These brown pleated shorts feature a paper-bag waist, removable belt, and a work-appropriate length, all of which makes us want to snag a pair today! We think today's subject would adore them as well; just be sure to add a printed cardigan and colorful shoes to inject some of Knowles' earthy sensibilities into your ensemble.

Suno Beaded Doleman Sleeve Top ($485) in Citron
It's clear that our GOTM is a fan of prints, so we simply couldn't resist including this playful top by Suno. Pair this versatile blouse with white jeans, or, if you're feeling more adventurous, try it with a printed skirt to emulate Knowles' fearless mix of patterns. However you choose to style it, we're confident that this top will get a lot of wear this season!

Urban Outfitters Printed Soft Turban Headwrap ($19) in Black Multi
If you're dying for a creative way to spice up your spring wardrobe, why not go for a headwrap? If you aren't quite as daring at Knowles, no need to fret because Urban Outfitters offers a very wearable option that is super cute. We think this leopard-print wrap just might be the purr-fect finishing touch! --Erin Fitzpatrick
