At WhoWhatWear.com, we try not to play favorites with the fashionable women we spotlight, but when we come across someone with incredible personal style, we definitely feel the need to shout it from the rooftops. So who is getting all of our love lately? A 22-year-old up-and-coming pop singer from the tiny town of Broxbourne, England: Jade Williams, aka Sunday Girl. The brunette beauty is making quite the name for herself right now, both in the music industry (she has a handful of hit singles in the UK) and the fashion world (she made stylish appearances at the Mulberry and Topshop shows during LFW earlier this spring, and was spotted at Stella McCartney and Chanel in Paris). In addition to her intriguing fashion choices--her outfits tend to feature a masterful mix of masculine and feminine elements--we are truly impressed by Williams' slew of talents. This creative young lady not only writes her own songs, she also styles herself for her music videos, designed the artwork for one of her singles, and has a very lovely blog. With her signature tousled tresses and an innate sense of style, the multi-talented Williams makes for the perfect Girl of the Month.
One thing that stands out about Williams' boy-meets-girl style is how she consistently adds unexpected elements to her outfits. Whether she's pairing Tory Burch's Winnie Coat ($550, 866.480.8679) with chain-detailed leather booties (also by Tory Burch), opting for a shirt with a standout collar, or rolling up a pair of Topshop's Red Belted Pleat Front Tapered Trousers ($85) to show off her socks and Topshop Sugar Nude Patent Mary Jane Platforms ($140, 212.966.9555), our GOTM always puts an interesting twist on her outfits. She's also no elitist; many of her outfits have a D.I.Y. element at work (she'll make her own collar or fashion a skinny bow-tie out of shoe laces) or feature high-street favorites from the likes of Aldo and Topshop. If you're as crazy about her style as we are, you're in luck because we've tracked down a handful of Williams-inspired pieces--including an edgy leather skirt, a motorcycle jacket with an intriguing mix of textures, and a gorgeous silver chain-link bracelet--to help you attain her enviable cool-girl vibe! Read on to see the rest of our picks; we're confident you'll love these pieces as much as we do!
Bumble and Bumble Texture Crème ($26) in 5 oz.
A Williams-inspired ensemble is simply not complete without tousled, just-rolled-out-of-bed hair. But if you're like most of us, your hair probably needs a little help to achieve this perfectly undone look. Accordingly, we recommend applying this new styling crème by Bumble and bumble to your damp hair (then scrunch it with your fingers) to get Williams' fuss-free hair in no time!
Pierre Hardy Patent and Grosgrain Flats ($630, 646.499.0070)
Williams clearly adores her nude mary-jane pumps; she's teamed them with socks and cropped, coral pants, as well as with chic black trousers. Accordingly, we picked these adorable flats by Pierre Hardy because they are equally versatile and make a great alternative to pumps (not to mention they're far more comfortable!). The smart mix of patent and grosgrain makes these flats a truly standout piece, and we're positive they will instantly update your look this season!
Cynthia Rowley Wrapped Piping Satchel ($290) in Black
It's safe to say we love everything about this bag! From the leather trim and silver hardware to the magnetic flap pockets and detachable tassel (a Microtrend we highlighted earlier this month!), this Cynthia Rowley satchel is pure perfection. We think this bag is perfect in keeping with our GOTM's hip, downtown-girl vibe, which makes us want to snag one pronto!
Club Monaco Stella Sweater ($129, 310.657.1818) in White
Club Monaco is one of our go-to shops when searching for wardrobe staples, so it was difficult to choose just one standout piece from the retailer's spring offerings. However, we were particularly drawn to this white boatneck sweater, which can easily be paired with any piece hanging in your closet. We think our GOTM would love it as well; be sure to follow her lead and juxtapose the sweet, feminine sweater with masculine accents, such as a pair of dark, slouchy trousers or a tough leather jacket.
DKNY Cropped Stretch-Cotton Pants ($195)
It's no secret that spring is all about color, so we could hardly resist including these coral-hued trousers by DKNY, which are also very similar to the pair that Williams wore to a charity event benefitting Cancer Research UK in London last month. The best part about these playful pants is that they can be dressed up a la Williams with a button-up blouse and nude blazer or paired with flats for a weekend getaway.
Tacori Blushing Rose Gold and Silver Bracelet ($400)
You won't find Williams sporting any flashy, over-the-top jewelry; she favors simplistic accents and keeps her accessories to a minimum. Accordingly, we think our GOTM would be mad about this understated Tacori bracelet. Much like Williams' own personal style, this bracelet has a classic-with-a-twist vibe, thanks to its mix of gold and silver and the tiny patterns engraved in each link.
J. Crew Tweed and Khaki Motorcycle Jacket ($298)
We have yet to come across a J. Crew piece we didn't like, and this supremely cool motorcycle jacket is no exception. We particularly adore its mix of materials; the jacket features both khaki and tweed, resulting in a modern twist on a wardrobe staple that our GOTM would certainly approve of. Never one to stick to a traditional look, Williams might pair this with straight-leg pants and a pair of leather booties.
Kova & T Geneva Skirt ($333, 310.550.1341) in Black
Our GOTM clearly has a knack for wearing anything-but-basic black pieces in interesting ways, so when we came across this leather skirt by Kova & T, we instantly thought it would suit her style. Williams tends to steer clear of overtly sexy outfits, so we think she would tone this skirt down by teaming it with a menswear-inspired, white button-up blouse and her favorite nude mary-jane pumps.--Erin Fitzpatrick
