Gia Coppola

Gia Coppola
When it comes to personal style, is there anything more admirable, enviable, and coveted than effortlessly chic looks? Invariably spotted on the coolest girls, these ensembles are sophisticated and sleek, yet never make the wearer look like she tried too hard. Today's Girl of the Month, Gia Coppola, is the perfect embodiment of this sort of dressing, but she's so much more than the sum of her amazing wardrobe. In addition to her noteworthy style, Coppola is also a savvy photographer and filmmaker; she's shot for Vogue Nippon and directed films for both Opening Ceremony and Zac Posen for Target. And if that wasn't impressive enough, the brunette beauty also recently modeled for LA-based brand Whetherly's S/S 12 lookbook, proving she's equally talented in front of the camera too! With her aptness for all things creative, today's GOTM is certainly a fine inspiration!

One thing we especially like about Coppola is her knack for compiling easygoing, uncomplicated outfits with a stylish twist. Take, for instance, the look she wore to Fashion's Night Out in Los Angeles in September (bottom row, left). For the event, she chose classic pieces-a J. Crew button-up shirt and Topshop leather skirt-but mixed things up by adding Topshop's playful Madison Leopard Print Loafers ($66) for a perfectly balanced ensemble. That same month, Coppola executed another smart styling trick at the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party (top row, right). She chose a basic, neutral Dolce & Gabbana sweater and added a bold print skirt by the same brand, which effectively punched up her outfit. Instead of going for heels-which would have given her outfit a touch of va-va-va-voom-Coppola selected flats for the occasion, a decision that ensured her look was chic and understated. We also wholly approve of our GOTM's accessories choices, especially at the Mulberry 40th Anniversary party back in September (top row, left). Coppola finished off her understated combo of a checked Muji button-up and black skinny Topshop jeans with a bright Mulberry mini Taylor satchel and feminine pointy-toe Tabitha Simmons flats, resulting in one seriously chic yet fuss-free outfit!

Smitten with her style? You're in luck because we've sourced a handful of products that will help you channel her laidback luxe sensibilities. From a minimalist bracelet to the perfect button-up, our picks are sure to inject some Coppola-worthy cool into your wardrobe.

Tilo Abstract Scarf ($165) in Blue
When chilly weather hits, it's hard to resist a fun, colorful scarf, as it simultaneously keeps you toasty and livens up an understated ensemble. We're mad about this version by Tilo because of its brilliant hues and gorgeous pattern, so snag one today and wear it all season long!

Zara Teardrop Neckline Dress ($60)
Zara has always been one of our favorite go-to places for affordable-yet-chic clothing. Case in point: this understated, long sleeve frock that features a lovely teardrop cutout and is a spot-on alternative to the version Coppola wore to the Chanel dinner two months ago. With its fluid, streamlined shape, this dress can be styled in a myriad of ways. Pair it with tights and boots for a cold-weather look this season or emulate Coppola and wear it with pointy-toe heels for a night out.

Benefit They're Real! Mascara ($22)
When it comes to beauty, Coppola tends to stick to a less-is-more approach, which means minimal makeup and a natural look overall. But one doesn't need to go completely barefaced to achieve this, as a coat of this mascara by Benefit will instantly perk up your eyes while maintaining a pared-down beauty vibe.

Tory Burch Norah Flap Envelope Clutch ($275) in Lemon
We absolutely adored the turquoise Mulberry cross-body bag that Coppola wore to the British brand's party in September, so we simply had to include a similarly vivid option. Our pick is this sunny envelope clutch by Tory Burch, which is the perfect antidote to winter's gray skies and will enliven any outfit in no time!

J. Crew Viv Flats ($228) in Wild Mushroom
Never one for over-the-top accessories, we have a feeling Coppola would appreciate these sweet pointy-toe flats from J. Crew. The bow detail makes these shoes irresistibly adorable, while the neutral color ensures that they'll go with anything under the sun.

Organic by John Patrick Poplin Shirt ($242)
A slouchy button-up shirt is the perfect way to achieve Coppola's relaxed sophistication, hence our inclusion of this fantastic Organic by John Patrick version! We're in love with its classic army green color and think it would make a great addition to anyone's wardrobe. For a feminine twist, tuck it into a skirt and add flats, or go for a masculine-chic look and pair it with trousers and a pair of oxfords. Either way, this top is sure to get a lot of wear this season!

AG Adriano Goldschmied The Legging Jeans ($198) in Leatherette Black
AG never fails to create swoon-worthy jeans, and these leather iterations are certainly no exception! Follow Coppola's lead and pair them with a plaid button-up and flats for casual affairs, or make them party-ready by adding a silky tank top and heels.

By Boe Coil Bracelet ($50) in Gold
Considering her no-frills approach to style, we think Coppola would be smitten with this By Boe Coil Bracelet. We're crazy about its subtle coil design and minimalist vibe, which makes this a truly unique and thoroughly modern piece.-Erin Fitzpatrick
