While there are loads of stylish models out there¬--check out our monthly MOD stories to see what we mean¬--occasionally we come across a catwalker who is so captivating and well-dressed she transcends categories. Perfect example: today's Girl of the Month Elisa Sednaoui! The multi-culturally savvy model¬--she grew up in Italy, Egypt, and France¬--is certainly one to keep an eye out for, and not just because she can be spotted on runways and red carpets alike. In addition to earning her acting chops in small French films, she also happens to be Karl Lagerfeld's latest muse, is part of H&M's current advertising campaign, and, most importantly, has a seriously enviable wardrobe filled with enough Chanel and Christian Louboutin to make any fashion lover jealous.
It's not hard to see why this 22-year-old beauty is a new fixture on the best-dressed lists. Whether she is attending a Chanel show or arriving at lavish fashion dinners, Sednaoui is typically turned out in impeccable, ladylike looks (think: classic silhouettes and richly textured pieces). For example, at Chanel's fall couture show in early July, Sednaoui wore an elegant white top and skirt from fabled fashion house. The ensemble has lots of lovely details¬--including lace and 3D flowers¬--that make its simple shape more interesting. Plus, we love the way our GOTM punctuated her frosty palette with black Christian Louboutin Peep-Toe Booties ($1165,888.856.8247) and oversized Chanel sunglasses. Continuing with this neutral color scheme, Sednaoui opted for another Chanel masterpiece when she attended the Fashion Dinner for AIDS in Paris back in May. This time she selected a strapless frock with black lace and fringe detailing from the S/S 10 collection and ladylike ankle-strap heels¬--Christian Louboutin's Melita Peep-Toe Heels ($895, 888.856.8247) to be exact!
In addition to her mastery of fabulously feminine looks, Sednaoui also has a knack for using modern silhouettes, sexy materials, and mesh accents to enliven her monochromatic ensembles. Sometimes she manages to incorporate multiple aspects into a single outfit, as she demonstrated at the Chanel F/W 10 show in March when she wore a gorgeous long-sleeve black dress from the fashion house's Pre-Fall 10 collection. The combination of the fitted bodice and dramatic skirt adds up to an exaggerated hourglass shape that is intriguing to say the least¬--especially when paired with black mesh Christian Louboutin Madame Es Nue Boots ($1325,888.856.8247). That same month, at the Chloe F/W 11 show, Sednaoui opted for more see-through footwear, this time a pair of caged nude heels, which she wore with a white wool Chloe jumpsuit. Even when our GOTM is completely sans mesh, she still manages to infuse her outfits with sultry appeal. Just check out the look she picked for Chanel's spring couture show this past January¬--a black leather strapless Chanel jumpsuit¬--if you need convincing!
Of course, while the majority of Sednaoui's looks are color-free, every once in a while she'll make an exception to that rule and pick a romantic dress. On occasions like this, she still maintains her youthful spirit and au courant look by showing off her legs via an abbreviated hemline, like the Chanel floral mini dress she picked for the fashion house's Cruise 11 presentation in St. Tropez. Paired with periwinkle Christian Louboutin Greissimo Mule Heels ($895,888.856.8247) and accented by a draped train, the dress is feminine but dramatic¬--much like our GOTM herself!
If you want to dress to impress à la Sednaoui, you're in luck, dear readers, because we have all the essential pieces to put you on a model-worthy path. First things first: you need plenty of ladylike dress options. If you are looking to emulate Sednaoui's stunning white lace moment, we suggest Warehouse's Lace Overlay Shift Dress ($110), but if her black and white frock is your desired silhouette, XOXO's All Over Embellished Organza Emma Dress ($102) or Forever 21's Prim Posy Dress ($25) are great options for your next fancy soiree. It's important to have colorful options as well; some of our favorites include Theia's Printed One-Shoulder Dress ($371) and Ted Baker's Silk Chiffon Soft Focus Floral Smock ($117), which grazes just above the ankle, but has a similarly colorful floral print. A pair of violet peep-toe heels, like Foot Candy's Suede Sandals ($104), will help you further achieve Sednaoui's Riviera-inspired look.
Now that you have your dressier attire covered, it's time to pick up a few modern silhouettes and interesting textures. If you want to experiment with an avant-garde shape, try Topshop's Pleat Shoulder Biker Jacket ($145) teamed with a skirt that has a similar hourglass contour; we like McQ's Tulip Skirt ($315) or Topshop's Lace Pocket Cupro Skirt ($80). Finally, grab Dolce Vita's Bentley High Heel Dress Boots ($372) to finish this fashion-forward ensemble. Of course no Sednaoui-worthy wardrobe would be complete without a polished jumpsuit. To capture the spirit of her front-row looks, pick up a leather top, like Marc by Marc Jacobs' Leather Bustier ($558), and pair it with Michael Kors' Faux Leather Pants ($80). Additionally you can try a white suit like Jones of New York's 2-Piece Pant Suit ($240) with Report's Meylan Caged Heels ($83) and voila! Your Sednaoui-inspired style is complete!¬--Jessica Baker
