Delfina Delettrez Fendi
Today's Girl of the Month-Delfina Delettrez-embodies all of the qualities we appreciate in a girl crush. She's stylish, to be sure, as evidenced by her impeccably assembled ensembles that strike the perfect balance between sophisticated and playful. She's independent too; instead of going into the family business directly (mom is Silvia Venturini Fendi, of those Fendis), Delettrez struck out on her own and launched an eponymous jewelry collection in 2007 at the tender age of 19. But best of all, Delettrez is not only creative, she's also quite talented, clever, and clearly has a sense of humor, which is revealed through her incredible jewelry designs. In celebration of this fashionable entrepreneur, we selected an assortment of Delettrez-inspired items that share our subject's noteworthy sensibilities.
Before picking today's featured products, we spent a considerable amount of time studying Delettrez's wardrobe choices. One thing that became immediately clear is her fondness for textured pieces. For example, at a cocktail party for a photography exhibition in Rome earlier this year, Delettrez stunned in a pair of silver-flecked black Fendi pants styled with a black silk mini sweater from her own "We Men" collection, a plexiglass and wood Fendi belt, crocodile and leather Fendi bag (this Silvana Bag ($8180) is quite similar), and the spider necklace from her "Arachnophobia" collection, which is made of gold, silver, and moonstones. She selected an equally nuanced ensemble for the Valentino Haute Couture show in Paris this summer, when she paired a feathered Valentino skirt with a 3D rose-embellished top, also by Valentino.
The Italian designer also appreciates a little color in her life, using it for both casual and more formal occasions with aplomb. At the Moncler menswear show in Milan a few months ago, Delettrez looked summery in a floral Yves Saint Laurent blouse paired with a vintage black Fendi skirt and ankle boots, as well as the same spider necklace and her own spider bracelet, this one made in black silver and moonstones. To give you a dressier example, she also went for full-tilt hues at the premiere of This Must Be The Place at the Cannes Film Festival in June, wearing a vibrant turquoise gown and a blue and red clutch, both from Fendi's S/S 11 collection.
Bearing all of this in mind, we've rounded up an intriguing mix of products that speak to Delettrez's singular style. When creating your own look, just be sure to add some gothic or surrealist-influenced baubles to ensure you have the perfect look!
Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner ($20) in Triggerfish
One thing Delettrez seems to adore for any occasion is smoky eyeliner, so we knew we had to find the perfect product for today's story. Stila's Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner won out, as it works like a dream and comes in the most insanely gorgeous steel gray color that has just a hint of sheen. Take a page from our GOTM's playbook and try a smoky, lower liner look with an otherwise understated face. The result will be very glam, we swear!
Alice + Olivia Leiby Jumpsuit ($440)
Delettrez definitely appreciates a wide-leg silhouette, but still likes to show off her frame, so we think she'd approve of this jumpsuit because it lets you do both! In addition to its waist-cinching belt, we also think she'd approve of its slouchy, blouson top, which echoes the lines of Delettrez's brightly hued Fendi gown.
River Island Dark Beige Oversized Bag ($79)
Delettrez has access to some of the world's most covetable Fendi bags, but of all her many options, we couldn't help but notice that she often carries a ladylike flap bag. Bearing this in mind, we were delighted to find a similarly shaped top-handle tote in a neutral palette at River Island, and thrilled to note that its price is decidedly more accessible. Also worth noting: Mango's Shopper Handbag ($89.90), Warehouse's Ostrich Day Bag ($70), and Fiorelli's Floris Lady Bag ($154).
Raoul Wide Strapped Sandals ($210, 205.345.1814)
We're fans of this Singapore-based line's separates-the brand makes a mean leather midi skirt-a love we're extending to their accessories too! Case in point: these incredible sandals, which manage to be both chunky and delicate simultaneously. We think Delettrez would approve of their simplicity and strength, qualities she looks for when it comes to footwear.
Topshop Jade Paperbag Waist Midi Skirt ($76)
Naturally we had to include some color in this story, and what better way to do it than with this stunning skirt from Topshop? In addition to its incredible price, this relaxed piece is sure to become a favorite in anyone's wardrobe, thanks to its effortless silhouette in an awe-inspiring shade of green.
Delfina Delettrez Bee Enamel Brooch ($165)
While we swoon for so many of Delettrez's pieces-like the beautifully named Rapunzel Bangle ($2030) and the incredibly chic Button Down Necklace ($1715)-this quirky, cute brooch captured our hearts. Part of her "Garden of Delight" collection, this pin was inspired by an article Delettrez read about bees, which are fundamental to our ecosystem, and are in danger of going extinct. "It is a way to remember and respect this small, but so important, insect," she says. It's also quite chic and totally memorable, making it a multi-tasking piece!
Equipment Sisley Blouse ($208) in Black
Today's GOTM might like a look with a little sheerness, but nothing that's too revealing. This traditional button-down blouse in an unexpected material (silk-chiffon) is a perfect pick because it's feminine without being unfussy. We'd imagine she'd pair with a textured jacket and sleek trousers for a womanly, yet work appropriate, ensemble.
