Girl of the Month
Though Hollywood's latest fresh-faced ingénue, Alice Englert, is young, her sense of style is certainly evolved beyond her years. The 18-year-old Australian actress stars in Beautiful Creatures--in theaters on February 14th--as the new girl in town with supernatural powers, but it's her recent forays on the red carpet that hold us under her sartorial spell. In outfits that are ladylike and poised, yet never fussy, Englert showcases a stylish, sophisticated maturity, thanks to her keen sensibilities and experience in the spotlight (she starred alongside Elle Fanning in last year's coming-of-age drama Ginger & Rosa, and she's the daughter of acclaimed director Jane Campion, who directed The Piano). Read on and shop everything you need to channel this Girl of the Month's look. **On The Red Carpet** Englert tends to gravitate towards prints and textures that energize her look. At last year's Toronto International Film Festival, she wore head-to-toe vintage in a velvet jacket, slim below-the-knee skirt, and blue pumps (center). The demure silhouette isn't what you'd expect from a teenager, but the outfit's youthful feel is rooted in small details--the jacket's rich green sheen, the shoes' pop of color. While attending the Sundance Film Festival last month, she styled her outfit around a Joseph blanket skirt, balancing its vibrant Fair Isle print and fringed hem with a simple vintage sweater and boots (bottom, right). The actress displays a flair for the dramatic when the occasion calls for a more formal ensemble, though pared-down accents and a natural beauty look help to keep her outfits effortless. At the Ginger & Rosa premiere during the Toronto International Film Festival, she wore Lover's Essence Fitted Jumpsuit($749), mixing pretty lace detailing and red open-toe heels for a ravishing retro look (bottom, left). At the premiere of the same movie in Hollywood last November, Englert's Louis Vuitton Pleated Long Dress ($3950, 866.VUITTON) in Pink, from the Resort 13 collection, made an impact without any elaborate accessories (top, right). Ready to steal her covetable style? Check out the following picks. Get Her Look Elkin Peggy Pencil Skirt ($190, 323.655.2142) Another ladylike print to add to your repertoire! This one comes in the form of a polished pencil skirt, so wear it with a loose t-shirt and ankle boots to add some edge. Vince Camuto Judy Cross Body Bag ($198) A chic cross-body bag speaks to the actress' fuss-free sensibilities. Vince Camuto's contemporary carrier comes in a compact size that's ideal for a night out. Paul & Joe Sister Pyrenee Sweater ($290, 310.270.4620) The Fair Isle motif gets a contemporary twist in Paul & Joe Sister's statement knit. Team it with skinny jeans and knee-high boots as winter winds down. Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm ($16) in Mighty Mimosa Though Englert's beauty routine seems fairly simple, she's always got a perfectly pink pout. Swipe Clinique's tinted balm onto your pucker for just a hint of shine. Zara Jacquard Pattern Enclosing Coat ($169) Englert would love the cool, slouchy shape and understated print of Zara's coat. We suggest pairing it with a crisp white shirt and tailored black pants for a creative work outfit. Prabal Gurung for Target Collection Wedge Sandals ($30) in Apple Red A bold red wedge makes a great addition to your arsenal of attention-grabbing heels. This affordable version is one of our favorites from the highly celebrated Prabal Gurung for Target collaboration.
