Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington's impeccable taste is reflected in her choice of TV and film roles (Scandal, Ray, The Last King of Scotland), her red-carpet hits (in Prada, above), and her constantly changing, always flawless beauty looks--the girl can pull off a prom-ready updo and bright lip as easily as a loose wave and bronzed complexion. She popped up at Django Unchained's Berlin premiere with a bold lip and even bolder bangs, so we asked her beauty team to spill their secrets.Skin
Makeup artist Carola Gonzalez started by smoothing Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation ($59) in #9 on Washington's skin. Then she applied Cle De Peau's Concealer ($70) in Honey under the actress' eyes. She skipped blush and powder, opting for bronzer instead. "Dior's DiorSkin Nude Natural Radiance Bronzing Powder ($52) in Mocha #007 is a great shade for darker complexions," Gonzalez says. "It accentuates her cheekbones without taking away from her eyes and lips."

Eyes
Next Gonzalez used Dior's Iridescent Eyeshadow Palette ($60) in Earth Reflection with Trish McEvoy's Medium Laydown Brush #40 ($42) to create depth on Washington's eyes, applying the darkest shade onto her eyelid and crease. "Blend shadow in a downward motion, which will open up the eyes and make them look bigger," Gonzalez says. She lined Washington's bottom lashes with the same shade, switching to Face Stockholm's Sable Fluff Brush #11S ($24). "Having the right brushes is imperative," Gonzalez says. Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil ($19) in Underground came next, applied along the entire lash line before Gonzalez reached for her favorite mascara, Covergirl's LashBlast Mascara ($9) in Very Black. "By applying four or five coats you won't need false lashes," she says. Her trick to layering mascara? "Use an eyebrow brush to separate wet lashes between coats."

Lips
Red lipstick always stands out against a white dress, and Gonzalez decided on a deeper red shade since it's winter. She smoothed Nars' Pure Matte Lipstick ($25) in Terre De Feu on the actress' lips, blotted, and added another coat.

Hair
"Since the dress and makeup were clean and sleek I wanted to make her hair sexy and voluminous," says hairstylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew. She dried Washington's tresses with a dryer on medium heat and used Sultra's Curl, Wave and Straight Iron ($210) to smooth her dry locks without actually straightening them. As for the bangs, "I razor cut them to leave the ends undone, flat-ironed them with height at the root, and left the ends straight," Sturdivant-Drew says. She finished with Schwarzkopf's Supersoft Fixing Hairspray ($3). Obviously Washington isn't the only one with great taste.
