Exclusive: Front Row at Ganni's F/W 15 Runway Show

When Danish brand Ganni released their Pre-Fall 15 lookbook a few weeks ago, we immediately alerted you to the It-girl status of the Copenhagen-based brand. The label is much-loved by blogger Pernille Teisbaek, among others, and when Ganni invited us to be a part of their Copenhagen Fashion Week show in Denmark's capital city, we were thrilled to oblige (especially since the brand is officially launching on Shopbop this month).

"For this collection I needed something sexy, but very sensitive," said Ganni creative director Ditte Reffstrup of her brand's F/W 15 collection. "I was looking at Kim Basinger in 9 1/2 Weeks, that movie from the '80s. It's a very sexy character. That was my big inspiration for this collection."

The lineup, which featured some of the brand's signature kimonos and billowing pajama pants, also broke from the mold with bold colors, '80s-inspired jumpsuits, and elaborate embroidery. The mood of the show was sexy, to say the least: Set in an old warehouse in Copenhagen, the room remained largely dark save for dramatic overhead bulbs illuminating the runway.

"The Ganni woman is very confident," Reffstrup told us backstage. "She is confident in her own skin, and she wears what she wants to. She's the one who is carrying the clothes, not the other way around. That's very important to me, that you see the person behind the clothes."
