Five Bucket Bags For Spring

Five Bucket Bags For Spring
Wednesday, April, 24, 2013

There are so many great handbag styles available this season, but right now I find myself gravitating towards the drawstring bucket bag. My reasoning is simple: this ‘70s-inspired voluminous shape is so convenient, as it easily shrinks and grows to accommodate whatever I’m hauling around. Additionally, my inner slacker can rationalize that it’s much easier to just pull the strings tight than having to actually zip something shut. I love that each bag can feel so completely different too; a perforated leather version is the perfect mix of equestrian and athletics, while a metallic, python-embossed mini satchel exudes downtown cool. Keep reading to learn more about my top five drawstring bucket bags.

1. Nasty Gal Lola Metallic Bucket Bag ($270)
Nasty Gal’s Lola Metallic Bucket Bag just begs to be a part of the summer music festival crowd, paired with a floral sundress and ankle boots.

2. Wendy Nichol Embroidered Symbols Bullet Bag ($1095) in White
I love the embroidered symbols and hand-braided strap on this bohemian number. Against an all-black outfit comprised of skinny jeans and a tailored jacket, it would really pop.

3. 3.1 Phillip Lim Scout Small Drawstring Crossbody ($575)
I’m obsessed with all the grungy floral pieces in the 3.1 Phillip Lim S/S 13 collection, this drawstring bag being at the top of my list. Complement its moody florals with a black leather mini dress and flats.

4. Vince Camuto Perf Drawstring Bag ($198) in Luggage Marcos
This Vince Camuto bag is perfect for both work and the weekend. I love the idea of wearing it with cropped trousers and stacked-heel sandals.

5. Louis Vuitton Indigo Epi Petite Noe PM Bag ($1530, 1.866.VUITTON)
There is something so chic about mixing different shades of blue together, so I would style this sleek, textured Louis Vuitton bag with a chambray shirt tucked into faded denim jeans.
