Bundle up, dear readers, because today we're heading to the snowy climes of Utah. Yes, that's right, in honor of Sundance-the indie film fest that could easily double as a ten-day power lunch at Craft-we're reporting on some of our favorite new faces to watch. After all, one of the best things about this yearly Hollywood sojourn (aside from the swag, so we hear) is watching the emerging new talent leave indelible marks on the entertainment world. From the hit romance Like Crazy to the coming-of-age drama Little Birds, screening rooms were filled with Tinsletown newbies hoping for long careers on the silver screen. Yet, while we were duly impressed with performances from rising stars like Kay Panabaker, Juno Temple, and Elizabeth Olsen to name a few, we were just as intrigued by the way these ladies combated the Park City chill in sartorially enviable ways. From expert layering to shearling trim to textural touches galore, these twelve trendsetters look chic despite the frosty temps. And while most are up-and-coming talents we can't wait to see more of, we couldn't help but round out our selection with a few fashion favorites-ahem, Kate Bosworth and Emma Roberts-who were also on hand to promote their newest acting projects.
WHO: Haley Bennett
WHAT: The rising actress strays from her Marley and Me beginnings to star in the raunchy comedy-thriller Kaboom along with Juno Temple and Nicole LaLiberte.
WEAR: To attend the premiere of Kaboom, the starlet opted to keep warm with a vintage maxi dress and ASOS' Longer Length Arran Cardigan ($86). We appreciate how she picked a floor-grazing silhouette and broke up an otherwise black palette with a festively patterned dress.
WHO: Emma Roberts
WHAT: Though you're probably familiar with Roberts' more mainstream projects like Scream 4, which hits theaters in April, the darling young actress headed to Park City to promote her latest film Homework, a coming-of-age story that follows two high school seniors and the close bond they create in their last year of school. Expected to release sometime this year, this is one cinematic treat you won't want to miss!
WEAR: Snapped at an interview for MTV, Roberts wore Elizabeth and James' Dylan Tweed Jacket ($465), which masterfully combines ladylike elements (a refined cut and fabric) with military-influenced details.
WHO: Felicity Jones
WHAT: The breakout star of Sundance-a.k.a. the new Jennifer Lawrence-is Felicity Jones. The actress wowed everyone with her shining performance in Drake Doremuses' Like Crazy, a romantic drama chronicling the challenging love between two young students.
WEAR: Spotted here at the 7 For All Mankind's 7 Fresh Faces in Film event, Jones showed off a Victorian-influenced ensemble with a touch of Western charm (very True Grit, no?) via an oversized shearling jacket, white button-up blouse, black skinny jeans, and cognac leather lace-up boots.
WHO: Kate Bosworth
WHAT: The lady with the Best All Around Style takes a dramatic turn in Elgin James' Little Birds as Lily's-Juno Temple's character-Aunt Bonnie, who is struggling to take care of her disabled-vet husband.
WEAR: Oh, how we love Bosworth's effortless way with designer pieces! To attend this year's Chefdance-an annual event where celebrated chefs prepare culinary masterpieces for 250 dinner guests-the silver-screen star selected runway look 42 ($6350, 212.249.4100) from Dolce & Gabbana's S/S 11 collection and Helmut Lang's Shearling-Trimmed Jersey Jacket ($1175). We love how she expertly bridged the gap between seasons by pairing one of fall's most coveted items-the shearling jacket-with a gorgeous spring piece.
WHO: Nicole LaLiberte
WHAT: With a promising acting career ahead of her and those flame-red locks, we can't help but wonder if LaLiberte will be the next Emma Stone. For now, we spotted her stirring up buzz for her latest film Kaboom.
WEAR: LaLiberte showed up to the K-Swiss Ping Pong Classic in a prime cold-weather outfit. The rising starlet accented her darling Shareen Vintage dress and sequined Diane von Furstenberg jacket with a Lia Sophia ring and two key cozy pieces: an off-white furry hat she picked up at a market in Johannesburg and black fingerless gloves (perfect for texting).
WHO: Juno Temple
WHAT: With two films at the festival and three more awaiting release, it would seem that 2011 is Juno Temple's year. The 21-year-old British beauty showcased stunning performances in Little Birds-also starring Kate Bosworth and Kay Panabaker-and Kaboom, an unapologetic comedy that follows the sexual journeys of a group of teenagers.
WEAR: Temple opted for a more laid-back outfit for her appearance at the 7 For All Mankind 7 Fresh Faces in Film event, wearing a plain black tee, jeans, and worn-in moto boots. That said, we love the fact that she added a richly textured floor-length coat over these wardrobe essentials, giving her final look a splash of drama and luxe finish.
WHO: Lily & Abigail Chapin
WHAT: American folk pop musical group, the Chapin Sisters, performed at the film festival's ASCAP Music Café.
WEAR: Spotted here at the Music Café, both ladies showed off romantic, maxi dresses in pretty peach hues. While the two frocks have a retro vibe, Lily's sheer overlay and Abigail's cut-out shoulders are details that make them feel fresh and up-to-date. Additionally, we appreciate that while they both selected ultra-long hemlines for the performance, they each opted for a slightly different shape. Lily chose a column-like silhouette, while Abigail opted for a fuller, forties-esque skirt.
WHO: Jazzy de Lisser
WHAT: A stylish up-and-comer, de Lisser leads a pack of teen girls in the drama To.Get.Her. While the film welcomed a mixed reception, de Lisser's performance and edgy personal style definitely wowed festival-goers.
WEAR: Black lace was one of our favorite winter trends so we were thrilled when we came across the stunning mini-dress de Lissy wore to attend The Samsung Galaxy Tab Lift-one of the festival's many glorified houses of swag. The lacy, tiered frock caught our eye because it's the perfect balance of demure and sexy, due to its ladylike shape and sexy peek-a-boo print. Additionally, De Lissy's choice to pair it with bright red lips and bold accessories underscores her unique panache that we can't wait to see more of!
WHO: Kay Panabaker
WHAT: The former Who What Wear Celebrity Editorial subject and current TV star (she makes Tuesdays appointment television as Daphne Powell in No Ordinary Family) struts her stuff on the big screen as good-girl Alison opposite Juno Temple's Lily in Little Birds.
WEAR: To attend the premiere of Little Birds, the porcelain-faced beauty opted for romantic ruffles via a Gracia dress in a intriguing true blue hue. She complemented the diaphanous top with equally dreamy waves and soft, smoky makeup.
WHO: Lake Bell
WHAT: The No Strings Attached actress adds a few slashes to her professional title with her writing/directing debut. Her short film Worst Enemy delves into women's body and image issues and was found to be highly relatable and celebrated.
WEAR: To attend the soft opening of The Bing Bar-the festival's go-to locale for premiere after-parties-the beauty with the blunt bangs opted for an androgynous look consisting of a collared shirt, Rag & Bone's Joan Sweater ($290), Rag & Bone hunting-style snow boots, and a menswear-inspired Bishop blazer. What we love about this streamlined silhouette is all the different textures at play, and how Bell upgraded her utilitarian bottom half with a snazzy, metallic suit jacket.
WHO: Elizabeth Olsen
WHAT: Breakout star for her role in the horror film Silent House (bought by Lionsgate) and the much buzzed about Martha Macy May Marlene (bought by Fox Searchlight Pictures) where she plays a young woman readjusting to life after escaping from a cult. This classically trained theater actress (and younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) won audiences' hearts with her stirring performances-and her accessible cold-weather style.
WEAR: Out and about in Park City, the youngest Olsen proved staying warm doesn't have to be boring by punching up her outfit with a burgundy Wooden Ships for Urban Outfitters beanie and a patterned scarf, both from Urban Outfitters. She finished off her cozy ensemble with a Starbucks, leading us to believe that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!-Liza Kaplan & Jessica Baker
