NYFW: Part 2
Cramming in all of our favorite NYFW outfits into one story is impractical and impossible, so today we're delighted to present part two of our Fashion Scene coverage. Starring some of your favorite bold-face names like Erin Wasson (resplendent in Jenni Kayne maxi skirt), Julia Restoin-Roitfeld (smoldering in Faster by Mark Fast), and Vogue Paris' new editor-in-chief, Emmanuelle Alt (epitomizing French-girl chic in Isabel Marant). Whether they're pragmatically dressed or clad in party attire, these industry insiders and favorites are as inspiring as the shows themselves-sometimes, even more!-and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Be sure to let us know who you think has the best personal style and don't forget to check out the blog for more fashion week fare!
WHO: Emmanuelle Alt
WHAT: Photographed at Theysken's Theory F/W 11 show on Monday.
WEAR: Everyone was buzzing about Emmanuelle Alt this NYFW, but we were only concerned with what the new editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris was wearing! Our favorite look? The incredibly cool and cozy mix of Isabel Marant pieces Alt wore to the shows on Monday, including a fur jacket from the designer's F/W 09 runway collection and a chunky-knit Etoile Isabel Marant sweater. C'est magnifique!
WHO: Emma Roberts
WHAT: Spotted front row at the Jenny Packham F/W 11 show on Monday.
WEAR: We've really enjoyed watching Emma Roberts evolve into quite the stylish young woman over the past few years, so we were more than pleased to see her out and about at NYFW. We are particularly fond of the outfit she put together for the Jenny Packham show, specifically a pair of tan wide-leg trousers and a magnolia-print chiffon blouse from the British designer's S/S 11 collection. It's an elegant and sophisticated combo that's perfect for this darling actress.
WHO: Erin Wasson
WHAT: Snapped hanging out in the Maybelline Lounge in Lincoln Center on Monday.
WEAR: As always, our style radar was on full alert for a noteworthy Erin Wasson-ensemble, and happily she didn't disappoint-not that she ever does, of course! Demonstrating her ability to blend new fashion favorites with amazing vintage finds, the model/stylist/designer wore a leopard-print Jenni Kayne maxi skirt with a thin white Zadig & Voltaire top, and then finished her look with a vintage burnt orange blazer and a wide-brimmed fedora. The resulting outfit is effortlessly cool-just as we'd expect from this style star.
WHO: Kate Schelter
WHAT: Sitting front row at the Kevork Kiledjian F/W 11 show at Milk Studios on Monday.
WEAR: As the owner/founder/creative director of her eponymous luxury-brand consulting agency, Kate Schelter wears many hats. But at the shows this week she wore one we can't stop thinking about: a floppy chapeau by Lanvin! The '70s-style topper was the proverbial cherry on the top of her darling outfit, which was comprised of a button-up Ungaro dress, Chanel bag, and strappy Christian Louboutin heels. The details are what make this ensemble so genius, specifically, the heart-frame sunglasses (purchased on the street, in honor of Valentine's Day) and the heart print on her frock. No wonder we love this look!
WHO: Chanel Iman
WHAT: Celebrating Michael Kors at the designer's 30th Anniversary Party at Bemelmans Bar on Wednesday.
WEAR: When we spotted Chanel Iman in this gorgeous ensemble, immediately we thought: now that's how you do old-Hollywood glamour! Styled in a bronze strapless dress from the designer's F/W 10 collection and a cocoa fox-fur jacket from the F/W 11 show, Iman looked like a silver-screen star and we applaud her timeless, fabulous picks!
WHO: Jen Brill
WHAT: Seen here at the Tommy Hilfiger F/W 11 show on Sunday.
WEAR: When it comes to crush-worthy it-girls, Jen Brill certainly takes the cake. We've been fans of her personal style for sometime now, so you can imagine our excitement when we came across this adorable outfit. The agent (she reps photographers, not actors) stepped out in a Tommy Hilfiger cropped blazer and white pleated dress, paired with a Chanel bag. We love that she added interest to her look with a pair of sparkly Wolford tights and bright red YSL shoes-two marvelous touches!
WHO: Anna Dello Russo
WHAT: Photographed front row at the Narciso Rodriguez F/W 11 show on Tuesday.
WEAR: One of the things we like best about Vogue Japan's Editor-At-Large Anna Dello Russo is that she consistently pushes the envelope with her outrageous fashion choices. We're always excited to see her over-the-top selections, like the Alan Journo hat-which is adorned with two very oversized gold cherries-she wore at one point during NYFW. That said, we also appreciate her tamer ensembles too, like the outfit she wore to Narciso Rodriguez's show. Dello Russo picked Look 35 from Alexander Wang's F/W 11 collection for that event, which is comprised of a slit-up-the-sides ribbed sweater and a slashed satin skirt.
WHO: Jessica Stam
WHAT: Spotted front row at the Proenza Schouler F/W 11 show on Wednesday.
WEAR: Jessica Stam looked fresh-faced and ready for spring in her head-to-toe Proenza Schouler outfit, featuring a Tweed Coat ($2100) from the designers' Resort 11 collection and neon top, black skirt, and leather flat ankle boots from S/S 11. The guipure lace and tweed fabrics in Stam's ensemble offer an intriguing mix of textures, while the electric orange and coral hues give the whole look a lovely splash of color.
WHO: Bee Shaffer
WHAT: Snapped at the Derek Lam F/W 11 show on Sunday.
WEAR: It's always sweet to see Bee Shaffer attending the shows with her mother-the one and only Anna Wintour-and we always appreciate her wardrobe selections. Shaffer typically goes for subtly chic pieces, like the shearling-accented Burberry ankle boots she wore to Derek Lam's most recent show. Styled with an equally understated double-breasted Burberry coat, Shaffer's look is the perfect mixture of elegance and attitude: very New York, indeed.
WHO: Amanda Brooks
WHAT: Photographed at the Frank Tell F/W 11 show at Lincoln Center on Tuesday.
WEAR: If we've learned anything from this NYFW, it's that richly textured coats are a must, especially super-cozy furry styles! We spotted a plethora of industry insiders bundling up in these luxe jackets, each wearing her outerwear in a unique way. For example, Barneys New York's Fashion Director Amanda Brooks styled her amazing vintage fur jacket with a leather Chanel skirt and 3.1 Phillip Lim boots. The combo is practical and perfectly chic; in other words, an outfit to emulate!
WHO: Julia Restoin-Roitfeld
WHAT: Attending a dinner honoring Charlotte Olympia Dellal at the Royalton on Tuesday.
WEAR: We are head-over-heels for Julia Restoin-Roiteld's daring style, which includes a lovely mix of girly and edgy pieces. Accordingly, we appreciate the way she juxtaposed a sultry Faster by Mark Fast Ballet Dress ($550) with a nude ladylike bag at a dinner honoring shoe designer Charlotte Dellal. The combo is sexy and sweet, which was perfect for the occasion!
WHO: Karolina Kurkova
WHAT: Snapped at the Michael Kors 30th Anniversary party at Bemelmans Bar on Wednesday.
WEAR: The stunning model showed off a high-contrast ensemble, which included a white silk charmeuse button-up shirt, gold leather belt, and strappy platform sandals-all covetable pieces from the F/W 10 collection-and the F/W 11 MICHAEL Michael Kors' Sequin Deep Pocket Pleat Front Pants. Her shimmering gold bottoms bring a wonderful element of opulence to her understated neutral picks. A winning look, indeed!
