London Fashion Week
As full-blown Anglophiles, we delight in all things British, so the fact that we love London Fashion Week should come as no surprise to you, dear readers. And who could blame us? Between all of the incredibly talented rising stars (Christopher Kane, Erdem Moralioglu, Kinder Aggugini) and the amazing established brands (Mulberry, Burberry Prorsum, Vivienne Westwood)--not to mention the top-notch attendees (Alexa Chung, Dree Hemingway, Kate Bosworth)--you simply must get excited. Accordingly, we're delighted to present today's installment of Fashion Scene, which is dedicated to the ladies of the London shows and their wonderful sartorial sensibilities. Read on for all the need-to-know info about these lovely looks and then please tell us which outfit you like best!
WHO: Clemence Poesy
WHAT: Celebrating Mulberry's F/W 11 collection at the post-show party at Claridge's on Sunday.
WEAR: The stunning French actress looked adorable at both the Mulberry show (where she wore a gorgeous yellow-gold dress) and the after-party (in a simple mid-calf length frock). For the latter, Poesy chose a piece from the brand's Pre-Fall 11 collection--specifically the Long Peggy Dress ($1100, 212.453.4722) in midnight silk--and paired it with some simple pumps by Gina. She looks refined, elegant, and absolutely adorable: love this ensemble!
WHO: Lou Doillon
WHAT: Photographed at a party celebrating Club Monaco's collaboration with Browns.
WEAR: Doillon, who is currently starring in Club Monaco's spring ad campaign, came out to celebrate the brand's partnership with beloved British retailer Browns. (Browns is currently stocking a select assortment of CM's clothing and accessories, both in store and online.) Doillon turned up in a stunning, slouchy, cream jacket--Club Monaco's Ava Beaded Blazer ($395)--paired with a big-brimmed black hat for a pseudo-'70s glam look.
WHO: Pixie Geldof
WHAT: Supporting designer Henry Holland at the House of Holland show on Saturday.
WEAR: Sartorially speaking, you never really know what to expect from Pixie Geldof. While she definitely loves a good gothic moment, she went for a breezier, '70s-prepster look last week at the House of Holland show--a change we definitely like. Clad in a pair of woven silk Fern-Print Flared Trousers ($645) from HOH's S/S 11 collection, a vintage cuffed boyfriend blazer, and pale pink lipstick, Geldof looked spot-on for spring while maintaining her individualistic spirit.
WHO: Edie Campbell
WHAT: Feting the launch of Vivienne Westwood's fine jewelry collaboration with the Palladium Alliance at The Wallace Collection last Friday.
WEAR: We're mad about the wintery look model Edie Campbell recently created and are currently coveting her vintage Burberry coat and oversized scarf in a big way. In addition to these darling pieces, we love the way she cinched her coat's belt over her scarf--a small, but powerful, styling trick!
WHO: Kate Bosworth
WHAT: Arriving at the Burberry Prorsum show at Kensington Gardens on Tuesday.
WEAR: The actress truly stunned at the Burberry Prorsum show in the British fashion house's studded pencil skirt, especially since she paired it with an abbreviated topper that looks like the love child of a trench coat and a motorcycle jacket. While the skirt is a one-of-a-kind piece, Bosworth's Cropped Leather and Cotton-Twill Biker Jacket ($2195) is currently in stock. The stylish lass punctuated her standout ensemble with a pair of quilted ankle boots, also by Burberry Prorsum, for a very strong final look.
WHO: Charlotte Dellal
WHAT: Snapped at the 15th anniversary party for British Vogue's website last week.
WEAR: To say we are fans of Charlotte Dellal's incredible shoe line, Charlotte Olympia, is a huge understatement. We're mad about her outrageously sexy platform heels and were delighted to see the designer in a pair of her own leopard-print booties (which are sadly from the F/W 10 collection) at a party for the online arm of British Vogue. As for the rest of her outfit, Dellal wore her favorite Wolford Amaris Dress ($925) with a Chloe belt, Isabel Marant coat, and a Victoria Grant for Charlotte Olympia hat, resulting in perfectly turned-out ensemble!
WHO: Jameela Jamil
WHAT: Photographed at the Louise Gray show on Saturday.
WEAR: Jameela Jamil is one of our favorite former GOTMs, in part because she so clearly has a sense of humor about life and fashion. That joie de vivre was definitely on display at LFW, when the TV host combined a pink strapless Topshop swimsuit with a poofy H&M skirt in a similarly sweet hue. To give her outfit a little more personality, Jamil added a polka-dot pair of H&M platform heels and some colorful Ed Sheeran jewelry (featuring beads made to look like British candies) for an anything-but-dull final result!
WHO: Josephine de la Baume
WHAT: Checking out the Pringle of Scotland show on Monday.
WEAR: Model/actress/singer Josephine de la Baume gave us an excellent example of how to mix chunky knits into our wardrobes, via the enviable ensemble she wore to the Pringle of Scotland show. De la Baum paired the brand's Cable Mesh Cashmere Hand Knit Sweater ($1100) with a sparkly dress from the S/S 08 collection and an oversized 3.1 Phillip Lim waxed-leather biker jacket (from the F/W 10 collection) for a perfect tough-cozy-cute combination. Note to self: try this at home!
WHO: Cara and Poppy Delevingne
WHAT: Snapped at AnOther Magazine's 10th Anniversary Party at The Box in London.
WEAR: One of our favorite British sister acts, Cara and Poppy Delevingne, looked particularly darling at the AnOther Magazine fete. Cara wore one of the most covetable leather jackets on the market, a Burberry Prorsum Peplum Biker Jacket ($3595)--perhaps a gift for participating in the brand's S/S 11 ad campaign? Her sister Poppy opted for a slightly girlier look with a one-of-a-kind Burberry Prorsum ruffled gray mini dress and a pair of Chanel metal plate boots.
WHO: Dree Hemingway
WHAT: Toasting Mulberry's F/W 11 collection at the post-show party at Claridge's on Sunday.
WEAR: The always-inspiring Dree Hemingway impressed us yet again with the perfectly constructed outfit she wore to Mulberry's after-party. The major model--we adore her strawberry blonde hair!--paired Mulberry's Tippi Dress ($950, 212.453.4722) in Peace & Love jacquard with a pair of green Charlotte Olympia for House of Holland lace-front heels and Mulberry's double-handle Carter Bag ($1550) in Midnight. (For those bag-philes out there, note that the Carter debuted with the Pre-Fall collection and is a key style for F/W 11!) As always with Hemingway, the style is in the details--notice how she knotted her Topshop belt in a delightfully insouciant way? We sure did.
WHAT: Sitting front-row at the Erden F/W 11 show on Tuesday.
WEAR: While the Alexa Chung-sightings at the most recent NYFW were sadly less numerous than in years past, at least we're getting to enjoy her outfits at London Fashion Week! The beloved tastemaker showed off her signature style at the Erdem show, wearing a quirky-cool combination of Ralph Lauren Collection Keyhole Printed Sunglasses ($250) in Houndstooth and a full-skirted nude dress from Orla Kiely's S/S 11 collection. We adore, as per usual!
