Why Emily Ratajkowski Thought Her Modeling Career Was All Over
Fashion girls know Emily Ratajkowski as the stylish model who exudes confidence no matter what she wears, including her latest cover look. The 25-year-old fronts the March issue of InStyle—the first issue its new editor in chief, Laura Brown, worked on from beginning to end—in a casual T-shirt designed by Virgil Abloh for Off-White and a pair of vintage wash Re/Done jeans. Her laid-back look is effortlessly gorgeous, and the interview reveals a lot we didn't know about her.
Ratajkowski opens up about everything from her sheltered upbringing to how she's navigating her career as a model and actress and expressing herself on social media. After making a name for herself in modeling and crossing over into acting with her role in the film Gone Girl, Ratajkowski didn't think she had locked down a serious career. "At the time I thought, 'I'm going to just make a bunch of money and then go back to school.' To be honest, I hadn't figured out that I had a real career on my hands," she tells the magazine.
Little did she know her career was just getting started. "So I was like, 'OK, this person wants me to do this? Cool.' And then all of a sudden I realized that these projects are just not me. That's when I shifted toward more meaningful things." With 10.9 million Instagram followers (and counting) and multiple fashion campaigns under her belt, whether it's modeling or acting, we have a feeling EmRata's career is only just beginning to blossom.
