The Dos and Don'ts of Wedding Attire
With the official start to wedding season right around the corner, for those of you saying “I do,” now is the time to think about last minute finishing touches for your wedding day look. To help steer you in the right direction, Jess Levin of Carats & Cake spoke to a few of the industry’s most stylish people to get their dos and don’ts. Read what the experts had to say.
“Timelessness never goes out of style. Incorporate elements that are modern or vintage, but choose a mostly classic look that won’t date your wedding pictures in the years to come.”
— Laurie Arons, founder, Laurie Arons Special Events
“Do spring for a stunning veil—nothing is more old world, romantic, and timeless, and you’ll never get to wear one again!”
— Calder Clark, owner and creative director, Calder Clark
“Your wedding is a snapshot of a moment in time, and you want to feel like the best version of yourself. Stay true to your personal style, this isn’t the moment to ‘try a look,’ because these pictures will last a lifetime."
— Lynn Easton, president, Easton Events
“Don’t feel limited to a ‘wedding dress.’ When our client Piper Perabo got married, as an actress, wedding dresses literally made her feel like she was in a costume. She is a fashionista, so a fashionable gown with a veil just felt so much more right for her. It’s your day to wear what makes you feel amazing. That doesn’t necessarily come with the title ‘wedding dress,’ when maybe a dress you wore to your wedding is a better idea.”
— Xochitl Gonzalez, creative director, AaB Creates
“Do bring comfortable shoes. Wear your favorite designer shoes for photos, and bring comfy wedges or flats to make sure your feet aren’t screaming at you.”
— Elizabeth Lewis, co-owner, The Nouveau Romantics
