1500 Hours Later, This Dior Tarot Card Coat Came to Life

Adrianna Barrionuevo

Last couture season, Dior's Maria Grazia Chiuri wowed us with a gorgeous tulle gown that took over 800 hours to create for her debut haute couture collection. This season, the French fashion house upped the ante with a beautiful take on an unexpected color palette and a handcrafted tarot card coat that took 1500 hours of work to come to life.

The intricately beaded piece took a team of 10 to complete—and there's a behind-the-scenes video that shows just how detailed it really is. In it, Chiuri explains, "Mr. Dior was very fascinated by tarot and astrology. Me too." The many card designs that make up the coat were developed in the studio and are based on original tarot cards. Chirui picked her favorite cards as part of the design's conception, including the strength card, which she says is, "a very important card." On the runway, the colorful coat made quite the statement, and trust us, you can't miss it.
