Here at Who What Wear, our obsession with designer handbags is fairly democratic—we show love to everything from a classic Céline luggage tote to a gamut of vintage Chanel bags, and we're pretty much of the opinion that they all offer a bundle of value when it comes to high-style. But new data from online consignment store The RealReal reveals that when it comes to American shoppers, all designer bags are not created equal.
Looking at data from their gross sales completed so far in 2014 across 10 retail markets, The Real Real team discovered that there are six designer names that sell by and away much more than the rest: Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Céline, Gucci, Goyard, and Hermès. And each city has their own distinct preferences; while Vuitton bags seem to be popular across all markets, Goyard bags only really speak to folks in Denver. And somehwat surprisingly, Céline bags are only super-popular in Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
