Dakota Johnson Just Wore the Most On-Trend Shoes in Paris

Erin Fitzpatrick

Pop quiz: What offbeat footwear trend did we highlight last week? Hint: It's beloved by street style stars like Aimee Song, and major brands like Marni and Acne Studios have also jumped on board. Give up? If you didn't catch the story, we delved into the "ugly sandals" trend—the comfortable but slightly strange shoes that fashion girls love. (Birkenstocks and Tevas are classic examples of the trend.)

The latest convert is none other than Dakota Johnson, who was spotted shopping in Paris yesterday wearing a pretty printed dress with Robert Clergerie's Frazzia Double-Band Platform Sandals ($495). Thanks to the extra-thick straps and chunky, flatform silhouette, the shoes definitely fall into the category du jour. We happen to love the juxtaposition her floaty, feminine dress and the chunky sandals—it may be a sartorial risk to some, but Johnson pulled it off with aplomb.
