What a 15-Carat Diamond Ring Actually Looks Like on a Hand

Not familiar with the grading system for diamonds? We'll give you a little refresher: A diamond with a D flawless rating is the most valuable of them all. (And it also happens to describe Kim Kardashian's Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring.) The letter D represents diamonds that are completely colorless, while the flawless rating refers to the gems with perfect clarity. So what does this stunner look like IRL? Auction house Sotheby's posted a fascinating Instagram video of this exact type of ring, and we're completely in awe.

According to Sotheby's, the ring will be on the auction block at the company's Magnificent and Nobles Jewels auction in Geneva, Switzerland, today. Other jewels offered include sapphire Bulgari earrings expected to fetch $15,000 and an emerald ring that might command up to $50,000. A girl can dream, right?

Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
