The Muppet Show
The Muppets first came to mind thanks to Prada's fuzzy fabrics. A cornsilk-colored, pelt-like, mohair vest brought Fozzie to mind immediately a 3/4 length pea green, wooly coat was positively Kermit-like. Elsewhere we spotted an oversized, fingertip-length, marigold jacket at Pucci that could have been related to Rowlf the Dog and a red fur at D&G that reminded us of Animal. Sam the Eagle seemed to be Alberta Ferretti's muse, at least for one blue, feathered dress.
Clearly we're amusing ourselves here, and needless to say we don't expect anyone to hold Gonzo up as a style icon. However, what you can take from this story is our suggestion to incorporate heavily textured fabrics, preferably in rich, Crayola colors, into your wardrobe.
We found a few pieces to get you started, like Built by Wendy's awesome, cherry red wool jacket pictured above. The military details are reminiscent of a lesser known, but cool, character from the Muppets, Sgt. Floyd Pepper. Missoni's turquoise Pom Pom Hat is a wool and mohair blend, which gives the beanie some cuddly qualities. It's also available in traffic light red and a pale, dove gray. Finally we have an item that's a little more What Would She Wear than Currently Channeling. We think Miss Piggy would totally flip out over Frye's silver t-strap heels-we're loving them too.
