When we were growing up, we watched The Cosby Show religiously. And we still do, thanks to Nick at Night. The reason for our dedicated viewership is our obsession with the super cool styling of Lisa Bonet's character, Denise Huxtable. How could you not be enthralled? Her fashion-forward character rocked oversized blazers with intense shoulder pads, bold accessories like bright sunglasses and Xenobia Bailey hats, and whimsical florescent face paint. In short-she was a total 80's urban dreamgirl.
This spring we're seeing a slew of choices that Denise would flip out over. Take this Mudd print-esque Givenchy dress with coordinating stockings and shoes-it's like a Cosby sweater gone mad. While Denise was rarely seen in skirts, this dress homage to her fictional father's sweaters might have been irresistible. Pant-wise, we noted the parachute Norma Kamali-inspired pants on the Vivienne Westwood and Richard Nicoll runway as just the thing her character would have liked. The blouse adorned with pins shown by Nicoll, polka dot prints, and brimmed hat are also tres Denise.
Denise went for statement accessories, these electric blue Givenchy gladiator wedges are the sort of boldly eccentric shoe Denise would slip on for a saucy night out (price on request, www.givenchy.com). We also think she'd dig on Ksubi Eye's spring shades, like these baby blue Single frames or the red Bodge glasses (prices on request, available at the New York Ksubi store, 212.334.4690).
