Converse Chuck Taylors Are Getting a Dramatic New Makeover

When it comes to sneaker styles, it doesn't get more classic than a pair of Converse All Star Chuck Taylors. They have a lot going for them, from their low price point to their celeb following to their comfort factor. Last year, the basketball-inspired sneaker was updated for the first time since 1920 to improve the interior technology, and the company is taking it a big step further with its latest update set for release June 16.

Coined the Converse All Star Modern, the new silhouette will come in both high and low cuts, and according to the brand's site, they will feature "circular knit uppers and innovative features including Nike Hyperfuse, a contoured full-length Phylon outsole, a TPU-fused overlaid toecap, plus a neoprene split tongue and lining—all together delivering lightweight comfort and clean, stylish lines." How's that for high-tech? This is the first in a series of updates to come for Converse's lineup of classic sneakers.

As if that weren't enough for sneakerheads to look forward to, Nike, which owns Converse, is releasing a limited-edition Converse All Star Modern HTM (named for Nike's three-member creative team) tomorrow on NikeLab. The sleek iteration with its premium leather upper and embossed All Star logo will be available in black and white in the high-top silhouette.
