A New Generation of Press-On Nails

A New Generation of Press-On Nails
Monday, February, 04, 2013 There are a dozen ways to decorate your nails--from airbrushed nail art, to a manicure at your local salon, to an at-home paint job--but nothing's easier than the latest batch of nail appliques. Want a classic shade of cherry red? An ombre glitter look? How about a pattern inspired by spring's runways? Whatever applique you fancy, it's at your local drugstore, costs around $10, and is as easy as 1-2-3 to apply.Just grab a nail file and one of our favorite new designs: from left to right are Essie's Sleek Stick Stickers ($10) in Glam it On, NCLA's Wraps ($16) in Wax Print, OPI for Sephora's Trend Tips ($12) in Floral, L'Oreal's Colour Riche Nail Lingerie ($10) in Something About Her, and Sally Hansen's Salon Effects ($9) in Shiny New Year. Make sure your nails are clean and dry before sticking the right-sized sticker on top and using the file to remove any excess applique. They're so easy to manipulate that you can remove any excess around the sides just by sliding your own nail along the outline. Trust us, even the most uncoordinated can conquer this five-minute project. For extra staying power, layer a coat of your go-to sheer topcoat on top of the sticker with a drop of quick-dry. The best part? They come off as easily as regular nail polish--no soaking, chipping, or salon visit required.
