From Grace Kelly's to the Queen's, These Are My Favourite Celeb Wedding Dresses

What is it about celebrity wedding dresses that we love so much? I'd wager it's a lot to do with the high-octane glamour of it all. Not only are the dresses usually incredibly OTT, but they're also set against the backdrop of a no-expense-spared day. It's fabulousness upon more fabulousness, and that's before we've got to the A-list guest lists. In my opinion, celebrity wedding dresses provide two functions: first, for us to gawp at beautiful frocks, and second, to provide inspiration.

Okay, so you're probably not going to fork out hundreds of thousands on your dress, but little details from a celeb's frock just might give you a starting point for your own. Whether it's a feather trim or a lace top, there's plenty to glean from the following A-lister bridal looks. Keep scrolling for 15 of the ones we love.

Style Notes: Norman Hartnell designed Queen Elizabeth II's wedding dress when she married Prince Philip in 1947. Its train was 13 feet long, and it had a star-patterned all over.

Style Notes: Oh, Cilla. How cool were you? This feather-lined minidress was very much of the '60s era, but we could still imagine someone wearing it today and looking incredible.

Style Notes: The ultimate iconic celebrity gown. When Grace Kelly wed Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956, the Hollywood star opted for costume designer Helen Rose to make her dress. Sixty-five years later, this dress is still used as a reference point for wedding dresses.

Style Notes: The beauty of Poppy Delevingne's dress from when she got married to James Cook in 2014, is that it's super modern with classic twists. She still opted for a full-length veil, but the Chanel gown comes in two parts, which gives it a fashion-forward twist.

Style Notes: Princess Anne went for a high-neck dress that came with trumpet sleeves and a seven-foot-long train. It was pretty chic and a departure from overly stuffy royal wedding dresses.

Style Notes: A more recent wedding look we've loved is this from Zoë Kravtiz. Okay, so this one was from the rehearsal dinner, but we love how super cool (bridal cycling shorts!) and very Zoë this outfit is.

Style Notes: Bianca Jagger changed the way we think about what we "should" wear for getting married. This skirt suit was so chic and so stylish for her wedding to Mick Jagger in 1971 it won't come as any surprise that it was by Yves Saint Laurent.

Style Notes: A truly '80s creation, Princess Diana's wedding dress was loved by so many. David Emanuel designed her dress that featured a 25-foot sequin-encrusted train, puffed sleeves and a ruffled collar.
