Design brand Shinola may be known for its watches, with each timepiece artfully crafted and handmade in Detroit, but the all-American brand has expanded its offerings to include leather bags, belts, and more. To help create pieces that are as timeless and stylish as their watches, Shinola brought on model Carolyn Murphy as the women’s design director. We spoke to Murphy to get the inside scoop on her must-have Shinola picks, along with tips for shopping and styling these classic finds.

“There are so many Shinola watches and leather goods that I love right now,” says Murphy. “But if I had to pick, my favorite watch for spring has to be the Shinola Gomelsky Moon Phase on a cream leather band,” she says. “It fits with my wardrobe perfectly and transitions easily from day to night.”
“I generally avoid trendy accessories and instead look for timeless pieces that will last for years to come,” says Murphy. “What’s nice about Shinola’s new pieces is that the colors are classic, so they can be worn during any season and still feel new.”
“I like the contrast of wearing head-to-toe denim with dusty boots and a gold watch, or a sleek black ensemble styled with a colored leather watch band and colorful shoes,” says Murphy.
“Because my wardrobe is pretty neutral year-round, when it’s spring, I’m always drawn to fun shades that really make a statement,” says Murphy.
