Wait a minute. Are naked shoes the new naked dress? I've spent years covering the evolution of daringly sheer fashion moments on red carpets, so I'm not easily fazed by celebrities' out-there outfits. That said, Margaret Qualley's newest appearance managed to stop me in my tracks because she's wearing the ever-so-controversial Chanel barefoot sandals that debuted on the runway at the French house's cruise 2027 show in Biarritz in late April.

With just a small swath of leather covering her heels and two thin straps tied around her ankles, Qualley essentially went barefoot on the red carpet. I, for one, commend her bravery! To be frank, I don't think we're going to see Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi posing on a red carpet together anytime soon, given their clear commitment to privacy, so any sightings are likely to remain incognito off-duty ones (for now, at least). That's exactly what we just got when Jenner and Elordi were spotted going out to dinner at Cipriani London last night.

Like the other cool couples of 2026, such as Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescal, the pair has been opting for anti–date-night date-night outfits, but their looks last night certainly weren't devoid of trends. They were just on the low-key end of the trend spectrum. They each wore a specific trend that stood out to me. Jenner's button-down shirt was in a major color trend: cobalt blue. Fall 2026 is almost here, and our editors have been looking at all of the new arrivals as they start to come in. Since our readers love Nordstrom, COS, and Aritzia, I scrolled through each retailer to find the best under-$200 pieces to shop for the season ahead.

At Nordstrom, I went straight for the shoe section and found Camper's Right Nina Flats in silver for $170. For clothing, two other lines I love shopping at the retailer that have under-$200 options are NYC's Alex Mill and Los Angeles's Almina Concept.

There are very few reasons I'd journey to the heart of Times Square—even fewer before I've had my morning coffee—but Olive Young's official Sephora debut is too buzzy to ignore. After all, when the leading Korean retailer opened its first U.S. flagship store in Pasadena, the line stretched about a quarter-mile long. Some shoppers even camped out overnight to ensure they got their hands on their favorite K-beauty items! I expect similar pandemonium this week as 19 Olive Young-curated Korean beauty brands launch in more than 500 Sephoras nationwide, so when I got the chance to preview the dedicated K-beauty space at the Times Square flagship, needless to say I jumped at the opportunity.

Off I went, bright and early, to browse the assortment before it officially opens to the public. Not a bad start to my Thursday! Since I expect nothing less than a frenzy—both physically in the stores and online in the form of rapid sellouts—I'm sharing the K-beauty products worth snagging first. The savviest beauty enthusiasts approach major shopping events with a plan, right? These are the authentic items you can't find on other beauty retailers (well, aside from Olive Young itself and the occasional Amazon third-party seller), so I'd go ahead and secure them before they fly off the shelves.

As I was perusing the site this week, I noticed a ton of new fall arrivals trickling in, and I had to do a double take when I saw the striking styles, fresh silhouettes, new trends, and gorgeous detailing and colors. I've been enamored with the rich-looking buys that will elevate an outfit in an instant. Glitzy pieces that look like they came straight out of The Great Gatsby. High necklines, asymmetric hems, and new takes on the humble Henley. Sumptuous fabrics like satin, suede, lace, brocade, beading, and nylon.

The trend cycle has been noticeably condensed in recent years, compressing years- or decades-long movements into monthlong micro-moments that lose steam as fast as they're conjured. We see it across fashion and beauty, but one category that never seems to change as swiftly as the latest TikTok makeup aesthetic or Pinterest fad is hair. Hairstyles still move at a slower pace. After all, people usually change up their mane seasonally for a fresh start more than anything. But there's one hairstyle we beauty editors have been keeping our eyes on as it gains momentum, and that, my friend, is bangs.

Whether you've watched in awe or horror as Y2K side bangs began to reenter the style stratosphere or pined after Daisy Edgar-Jones's cool-girl curtain bangs, it's hard to ignore the onslaught of fringe inspiration we've seen over the last few years. When I started looking closer at the tastemakers who define future fashion moments, one thing became clear: Feathered, flippy whisper fringe is the next biggest hair trend on the horizon, and celeb hairstylists would have to agree.

What is whisper fringe?

In short, whisper fringe is the piecey curtain bangs you've likely seen on celebs as of late—the longer kind that you can swoop away from the face like Miley Cyrus and Zoë Kravitz or full-send Gen Z side bangs à la Bella Hadid and Mika Abdalla.

"I like to think of this as the noncommittal bang," celebrity hairstylist and brand founder Benjamin Mohapi tells Who What Wear. "It's so versatile. You kind of have it, but you can also kind of don't. It's perfect for a world where constant reinvention is the norm and attention spans are so limited." Whether worn as feathery, light curtain bangs or piecey side bangs, these face-framing snippets allow you to reinvent your fringe every single day—a necessity for the fashion-forward folks who yearn to stay ahead of the curve.

"I feel like 2026 has really been the year of the curtain fringe," says celebrity hairstylist Marylle Koken. While the stylist doesn't expect this trend to go anywhere just yet, she does see people taking a lighter approach to the cut rather than going for a Dakota Johnson–thick shear. "This fall, we're going to see clients become a little more daring. The fringe is becoming softer, more personalized, and really tailored to each person's face shape and natural texture," she explains. "What I'm seeing behind the chair is that clients aren't asking for one trend anymore. They want a haircut that works for them."

Forget about cut-and-dry trends. Real clients want high-functioning versatility that works for their day-to-day lives, which means finding a low-maintenance style that suits their personal taste. "It's less about creating a perfect blowout and more about creating a beautiful shape that enhances how their hair naturally moves," Koken adds. "That's where, I think, fringe is heading this fall: more customized, more effortless, and designed to work with the person instead of against them."

Soft Swoops and Side Bangs

While millennials may style whisper fringe like curtain bangs, Gen Zers are taking things a step further by swooping their wispy bangs over to one side—paying homage to the early aughts. (Millennials aren't quite ready to revisit them yet.) "I think the move to the side is long overdue," muses Mohapi. "Playing with bangs, no matter how slight, is a great way to start reframing the face." They can be as whisker thin as Kravitz's romantic tendrils and still make an impact.

If you crave a more voluminous look, take a page out of Abdalla's book. The Off Campus star wore her thick curtain bangs pulled and pinned to the side in a messy-chic updo fashioned by celebrity hair and makeup artist Ruby Neves, and I've never saved anything to my fall hair board faster. Mohapi, for one, is all for the voluminous-bangs movement.

"As soon as the bangs come into focus, you can start flipping the top over and giving yourself more volume without changing the overall look," says Mohapi. Think round-brushing the opposite way for extra volume or pinning them where necessary, like Abdalla. "Once fall takes hold, we'll start to see more side sweeping and flipping, but bangs will continue to be worked into the look," he adds.

Koken thinks that there are simpler, more personal reasons driving this trend: People want styling options that will give them their time back in the morning. "Some people are growing out a heavier fringe and naturally transitioning into something softer. Others want the versatility of still having a fringe without committing to a full, blunt bang," she explains. "The thinner, piecier fringe gives you options. You can wear it parted in the middle, sweep it to the side, or tuck it away depending on your mood." In short, people want styles that feel easily adaptable rather than a high-maintenance cut that requires daily blow-dries, rollers, and hair spray.

Fun tidbit: Margot Robbie is currently in Paris filming the Ocean's Eleven prequel, which is great news for us, as we've been getting lots of glimpses into what she's wearing this summer. I've tried hundreds of face mists throughout my career as a beauty editor, but I've rarely been enchanted by any of them. That's because most of them are simple hydrating spritzes. Sure, they feel nice and refreshing, but they rarely make a real difference in my skin. In addition to filming OBX's final 10 episodes, she's starring alongside Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz in Day Drinker, joining Glen Powell and Cristin Milioti in Judd Apatow's The Comeback King, and somehow squeezes in campaigns for Revlon, Sanpellegrino, and Dossier.

Still, throughout the litany of commitments, Cline cherishes a silly night out every now and then. While shooting OBX in Charleston, "we frequented a dive bar called Big Gun," she says. "Somehow, I left my sock on an antler. It perfectly sums up a fun night with the cast." It captures Cline, too: deadpan, down to clown, and someone who knows how to leave her mark.

Back home in L.A., she swaps the dive bar for a karaoke joint in West Hollywood ("I love my friends, and I love giving them a microphone," she shares), but no matter where she's headed, she's bringing a collection of beauty staples. Cline, and I say this with intense envy, can somehow do her makeup anytime, anywhere: a highlight balm in the bathroom, a lip combo between karaoke sets, an eye shadow stick at the dinner table. It's perhaps a byproduct of her perpetually on-the-go schedule, but it also helps that she's got striking material to work with. As DJ Chantel Jeffries once put it via Instagram, Cline has a face that "belongs in a museum."

"I don’t care where it is, but I do need good lighting," Cline says of her ideal glam station. So long as she has her group of friends and a solid vanity mirror, she can get dolled up in virtually any scenario. Her makeup bag is just as versatile, filled with easy-to-use, multitasking heroes she can dab on her eyelids, lips, and cheeks in one fell swoop.

As for her night-out aesthetic, "I love a freshly tanned, glowy, bronzy beat," she says. "I add a smoked-out dark brown liner and maybe a wash of shimmer on my eyes, a sculpted brow, and finish with some freckles." In terms of products, she's quick to call out staples from Revlon (for which Cline has been an ambassador since 2024), such as the PhotoReady Insta-Sculpt Bronzer & Contour Stick. "[It's] great because you can add warmth and definition without it looking overdone, and I love pairing that with the Glimmer Shadow Multi-Stick for a little extra sparkle," she shares.

In her bag—a "really darling" pink Prada Moon that fits all her night-out essentials without feeling bulky—she'll toss in more multitaskers, like Revlon's Glimmer Lip Treat Balm + Mask and Super Balm. "I love having hydrated lips, and the new summer shades give that easy, sheer wash of color that feels super natural," she says of the tinted lip color before praising the Super Balm's goof-proof formula and dewy finish. "It's one of those products that can go anywhere—temples, cheeks, even a little on the eyelids. It gives you that fresh, glowy look in seconds." If she's feeling fancy, Cline will even slip an eye shadow stick (another Revlon staple) into the tote for some impromptu shimmer. After all, you never know when you're going to suddenly crave a sparkly smoky eye. "I can swipe it on my eyes and blend it with my fingers if I want to add a little drama before dinner turns into dancing," she explains.

For fragrance, she cites Dossier's Vanilla Rebel as her go-to scent, which tickles the senses with notes of saffron, ginger, brown sugar, oakmoss, and smoky vanilla. "It’s the perfect blend of sweet and spicy for a night out," Cline adds. Of the four fragrances in the Vanilla Expressions line, which features Cline as the face, it's the boldest and most long-lasting with 25% fragrance oil concentration—a marker of a good party perfume.

Finally, she'll throw in a claw clip or hair tie ("No matter how much time I spend on my hair, it’s probably going up after a couple of martinis," she quips), a digital camera to capture "imperfect" memories, and a pre-alcohol probiotic to ensure she wakes up the next day bright-eyed and bushy tailed—even if she's down a sock. "It's one of those things that helps me feel a bit more prepared, especially if the night ends up lasting longer than I planned," she adds. "Sometimes it's a Tuesday, I'm only supposed to go out for one drink, and all of a sudden it's 2:00 a.m., and I have work the next morning." But that's the thing about Pogues. They always know how to bounce back from the frenzy.
