Study: Bloggers Are Now More Influential Than Celebrities

Erin Fitzpatrick

You already know how popular fashion bloggers are these days—after all, some of them are raking in millions. But just how much power do they really wield? According to results of a new survey, bloggers are now more influential than celebrities, when it comes to product endorsements.

As RetailDive reports, the market company Collective Bias surveyed 14,000 people to come up with its findings. Interestingly, only 3% of participants said they'd consider buying a celeb-endorsed item, in stark contrast to the 60% who said they've been influenced by a blog review or social media post when shopping. Plus, RetailDive explains that nearly 30% of consumers "are more likely to purchase a product endorsed by a non-celebrity blogger than a celebrity."

Furthermore, there's one subset of the population that's particularly loyal to bloggers: millennials. In fact, RetailDive reports that a whopping 70% of millennials prefer "peer" endorsements over celebrity promotions. So, does this confirm that bloggers are officially the future of fashion?
