    1. What made you want to start blogging?

“When I started in 2009, I didn't know anything about blogs or online forums or anything internet really. For me, the internet was basically an encyclopedia, not a place to be entertained or inspired. But I was between jobs and had a lot of images from design research, so I figured I'd put them somewhere. In the beginning I just haphazardly posted stuff. It wasn't until I started paying attention to other blogs that I started to put actual thought into mine and figure out my own voice.”

    2. What type of girl does your style appeal to?

“My style probably most appeals to tomboys or niche girls who mix it up a bit. Girls who don't take themselves too seriously.”

    3. Are there any downsides to blogging?

“Blogging has brought me a lot of opportunities, so I can't really complain. It's definitely been a lot of work to maintain while having a full-time design career. With new blogs popping up everyday, it's increasingly difficult to set yourself apart, especially when the industry already has a tendency to lump everyone together into one generic blogging community. You just have to maintain your voice and integrity and hope it shows!”

    4. What’s your day-to-day hair and beauty routine?

“I don't really have much of a routine. I'm the world's laziest when it comes to self-maintenance. I use Somme Institute for skincare day and night to battle my acne and it's really done wonders for me. I don't wear makeup unless I'm going out and it's mostly Nars with some Benefit blush and mascara. My hair probably suffers the most neglect. I don't dye it because I can't commit to regular trips to the salon. I chop it all off every few years, then grow it out, then repeat. But I do use Margaret Josefin treatment oil on the ends to tame the fluffiness of freshly washed hair, plus it smells like peaches.”

    5. What’s your favorite item in your closet?

“My favorite items I own are ones with sentimental value - my mom's or grandmother's clothing and jewelry. Otherwise, things that I got at crazy discounts give me a little sense of pride when I look at them.”

    6. How has your style evolved over time and do you have any fashion regrets?

“You can clearly see my style evolution on the blog—starting from my late 20s into my 30s now. I've always been the T-shirt-and-jeans girl, but it went from super casual vibes to a bit more polished, and of course some luxury items mixed in. I don't regret ever trying different looks. Some make me cringe, yes, but ultimately I think that's how you figure out who you are. The only thing I regret is wasting money on fast trends. Nowadays I stick to quality pieces I know will last and that I can revisit years down the road.”

    7. What’s your go-to night-out outfit?

“I'm not kidding when I say I wear a T-shirt and jeans almost every day. So a night outfit would just be switching out Vans for some boots and putting on a leather jacket or weird coat. I don't really do the sexy dress or sparkly top thing. I feel most confident in pants.”

    8. What’s the one wardrobe essential you can’t live without?

“Black jeans! Black jeans go with everything—T-shirts, button-downs, sweaters, blazers, sneakers, and heels.”

    9. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“"Work hard towards playing harder." I have a throw yourself into work while you're young so that you can chill later mentality. Now is the time to make things happen.”

    10. Who was your first style icon?

“My first style icon was my brother, who is basically the reason why I am the person I am today. From music to skateboarding, I just followed whatever he did. I dressed like a smaller version of him when I was younger—Dickies, skate shoes. And then I got into the riot grrrl scene and wanting to look bold like Kathleen Hanna.”

    11. What makes you stand out from other fashion bloggers?

“I don't know if I stand out per se, but I'm different because I'm me. I don't want to look like everyone else and wear what everyone else is wearing. And maybe being older, I have a better understanding of who I am and the look I'm comfortable with, so I'm less swayed by trends. I just stick to what I know and like, even if I look the same everyday. I'm not trying to be the prettiest or the girl with the biggest closet. I'd rather have a sense of humor. It's just clothes after all.”

    12. Where do you find most of your style inspiration?

“I'm most inspired by everyday people—the grandpa at the grocery store, the kids skating in the neighborhood. Sure it's fun to see fashion and street style, but it's kind of contrived. I don't mean that in a bad way, there's just thought behind it and intention. Whereas with regular folks on the street not caring about fashion, you get that unexpected functionality or a-ha! moment of things haphazardly looking cool together.”
