Blake Lively Just Wore Her Most Gossip Girl–Inspired Outfit in NYC

In the 11 years since Gossip Girl first aired on The CW, I can't say that all the beloved Upper East Side fashion has remained relevant to this day. For one, I can't imagine that Blair Waldorf's preppier-than-thou ensembles would fly in 2018, though I've definitely imagined what her closet would look like today. It's also safe to say that none of the show's cast emulates the Upper East Side aesthetic IRL, leaving all those headbands, platform heels, and plaid ensembles to their onscreen personas.

But Blake Lively, whose off-screen style is usually far from preppy, just stepped out in NYC in a look that bears an uncanny resemblance to her character Serena van der Woodsen. The actress's colorful plaid suit, shirt buttoned up to the collar, and menswear-inspired tie reminded me of a modern version of the school uniforms they'd wear in the show, infamously perched on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We, of course, found photos of Lively on set in a very similar look. Go on to see Lively's Gossip Girl–inspired outfit and the original one from 2008.

Her colored plaid suit, button-down shirt, and tie have an uncanny resemblance to the school uniforms she wore for Gossip Girl.

In 2008, Blake Lively's character in Gossip Girl wore her fair share of preppy ensembles involving plaid and menswear-inspired ties.
