We hate to say it, but your wardrobe is, like, soooo 2013. We kid, we kid. But in all seriousness, if you want to stay ahead of the fashion curve this year, these are the names you need to know.

Less newcomers than next-big-things, these designers have already found favor among the style flock, and now it’s your turn. Sure some of the price tags skew a bit toward the hefty side, but consider it an investment in your oh-so-chic future.

Something of a shoe wunderkind, the London designer wasn’t even out of college when she sold her first collection to prestigious UK department store, Brown’s. Since then, her whimsical, inventive designs have been embraced by both celebs (Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Roberts) and street style stars. Up next? A much-anticipated J.Crew collaboration set to hit shelves this spring.

Bright hues and bold prints are the key ingredients to Italian designer Massimo Giorgetti’s winning formula. The collection launched in 2008 and has been steadily gaining steam ever since. 2013 was a banner year of sorts for Giorgetti who made his Milan Fashion Week debut and opened his first standalone boutique.

One of the most innovative designers to come out of Australia in recent memory, the 27-year-old Lee is known for his futuristic sensibility and edgy glamour. Last September, he made his New York Fashion Week debut to unanimous acclaim and is expected to return to Lincoln Center next month for the F/W 14 shows.

The daughter of famed Irish designer, John Rocha, fashion is in Simone’s DNA. She debuted her first collection at London Fashion week for F/W 12 and has since gained a cult following with her brand of moody romance (if you aren’t familiar with her floating Perspex brogue, trust us, you’re missing out).

Florentine designer Edgardo Osorio, who honed his talents at Salvatore Ferragamo, launched his label in 2011 and it didn’t take long before fashion insiders like Cara Delevingne and Giovanna Battaglia were stepping out in his sexy, strappy creations. Street style star Olivia Palermo is something of a mega fan (we’ve lost count of how many pairs she owns).

One of fashion’s most buzzed-about newcomers isn't really new at all. The 28-year-old New York designer started her career at 14 as an intern for her future mother-in-law, costume jewelry designer Roxanne Assoulin and racked up subsequent stints at Oscar de la Renta and Lanvin. However, it wasn’t until last year that she struck out on her own, with an eponymous line that’s won raves for its craftsmanship and modern elegance.

You know those sculptural body-con dresses Beyonce wore on tour this summer? You have Koma to thank for that. And as if endorsement from Queen Bey weren’t enough, the 28-year-old designer was also just named the new artistic director of Thierry Mugler. We can’t wait to see his first collection for the French label when it’s unveiled this June.

Juan Carlos Obando
Though not exactly a fresh face on the scene (he launched his collection in 2008), Obando saw his star rise dramatically last year when he was named runner-up for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund prize. The Columbian-born designer’s fluid and feminine approach to eveningwear feels fresher than ever and celeb fans like Cate Blanchett and Jessica Alba have taken note.
