The Power of the Light Summer Jacket

Bobby Schuessler

I'm a uniform guy. On any given day, you can find me in a variation of the same thing—black jeans, a black tee, and a jacket (usually with the sleeves rolled up). And, yes, this is my all-year look. Meaning I am one of those brave souls who wear a jacket in the summer months. Before you race to the comments to call out my craziness, just hear me out.

While thicker toppers are undoubtedly unpractical when it's 80 degrees outside, a lightweight iteration (that's shorter in length) is actually perfect—not only to keep you semi-warm when your office blasts that frigid AC (PS: Why does every office do that?), but to give your standard trousers-and–button-down combo or jeans-and-tee look for the weekend a much more high-concept, styled vibe.

And the best part? You can wear a lightweight jacket a multitude of ways—as in, with your sleeves rolled up (how I make it through warmer afternoons) or, if you're feeling bold, the fashion girl's way of draping it over your shoulder.

Convinced to give the summer jacket a whirl? Or looking to add something new to your collection? Keep scrolling to shop a few of my favorite toppers of the moment—for every budget.
